excellent, should have a decent group soon then, from what i've seen it is very like warhawk, but with command and conquer bits thrown in the mix, and tanks go down quickly with the grinder and grenades

From what I played of the beta, hawks aren't nearly as overpowered against ground troops either. You can still take out a couple of people, but landing in the main base and killing everyone by yourself won't happen.

2 rockets kill them, or grenades if on the ground, so its fairly well balanced, should be great with a group of BnW on da mic

just had a taster at lunch, finish work soon so i can get stuck in then, i can confirm that the awesome draw distances of warhawk remain intact though

Single player is fun but it totally feels like an extended tutorial. It does a good job of preparing you for air, foot, and vehicle combats.
I finally feel comfortable flying the hawks, but a bit disappointed in the lack of hover mode. Great game overall

How come I can download a 1gb torrent in about an hour yet it takes nearly 4 fucking hours to download a 1gb update for BF3.

I think we did alright! Just need more knowledge of maps, I think we have got the concept of the game down.

I'm still not used to the missile scrubbing in hawks. I can't decide which is more effective, right stick or x and left stick - neither seem to be very reliable.

at least they seem easier to kill with RPG's, which is good for ground troops, and beam cannons rock its really growing on me, when you get a decent team together you can really kick ass, the prox mines are great too, when you can find them LOL

Completely agree! At first I found it difficult to deal with Hawks, but I was defending a spawn point I made and TWO flew in to kill me, and I somehow managed to kill them both on the ground. They are hard to deal with, you just need to make sure you have an RPG.

Also as you said Beam Cannons deal with them very successfully.

It is vital to have a good team, when you feel like you're the only one playing you know the game is shite but when everyone is chipping in, people are helping you catch the flag or you are helping them, everyone is making your base a beam cannon / auto turret fortress then it is great fun.

Also do the beam turrets fire by themselves or does someone have to be inside it?

both, they are auto but you can take control, same with flak cannons, best to have both in your base too.

btw, i never got my trophy for 'mancake' when i killed a hawk by spawn dropping onto it, gutted BUT i did get the 'deadeye' trophy for sniping someone from over 2500 feet away
