Any Way To Take Apart The PS3 Controller?

My stupid friend was playing the UFC demo with me yesterday and was smashing my controller so hard that part of the right analog stick nub came off ( only half of it ) I have another ps3 controller with the L1 button broken, so I was hoping to take that one apart and get out the stick and throw it in my other controller. Any online instructions on how to take apart the controller by chance? If it is too hard to do.. I will probably just crazy glue it. ( my solution to almost everything )

Darn, I take that as a no then. ( No replies ) I even cut myself on the controller today. I think I will just throw out my two broken controllers then and buy a new dualshock.

It is possible but it is a pian in the *** to put back together if you break the "tab" where the middle screw used to be on the dual shock 2's experiemtn with the completely useless one first until you know what you are doing.

If they used a screw like on previous controllers it would be easy but tis the battery you see, its in the effing way

Yeah i don't shop there either their prices on used games is horrible they don't follow their own policies (trade in deal BS) they open used games, their trade in credit is HORRIBLE (5 bucks for a game you'll sell for 55) then a lot of the time the people are just freaking stupid. There's one gamestop here that i go to and that's on very rare occasions when i preorder for the bonus items and the people there are cool (rare i know).

When i get used games i shop at a local place called CD/GAME EXCHANGE (always give me awesome deals, great prices and great trade in value) and when i buy new i usually just go to walmart, or if im closer, game crazy

They can be taken apart. I've done so a few times myself. I will add however that they can be a bit of a pain getting back together.

If you do decide to just buy a new controller, do not throw out the broken one. If your into fighting games, you can use the PCB to build yourself a rechargeable bluetooth arcade stick. That's what I did with my broken SixAxis. Sold it for $400
PCs are very much like Air Conditioners.
They both become utterly useless once you start to open up Windows....

I had to take mine apart because the L2 button was clicking from the day I bought it. I left it a bit hoping it would wear itself in but couldn't stand it any longer.

Getting it apart with a Phillips screwdriver is pretty easy other than the screws in the handles are a ***** to get free from their glue. The L1 button is dependent on the mechanism for the L2 button. Chances are the clip that holds that mechanism popped off or the L1 became jammed out of place. It happened to mine when I made the first attempt at putting the back half of the shell back on.

The easiest way of putting the back shell on is to slip the L2 and R2 buttons through their holes on the back half then pulling the snap in the middle over the battery. Once you have those two things accomplished it's not very difficult.

Common sense isn't all that common.

My X button was getting stuck so I took apart the DS3 and old SixAxis and swapped them around. The only annoying part is getting the triggers back in, but it wasn't all that hard.

I had a launch 60 gig PS3 but had to sell it do to money problems. I am about to buy a new one so I thought I would come back to the forums...........anyway I had to take apart my origional sixaxis I don't remember exatly why, but I did fix and reassemble it. It was difficult the first time, but aftr that it is easy I fixed my buddies who fell asleep on it and popped out the trigger and it only took me like 10 minutes. If it is broken be patient with it the worst that can happen is it remains broken.

Stupid friend buys you a new one - that'd be the best solution.

Yeah, too bad my buddy is going to college soon and doesn't have a job. I took the controller apart myself and fixed it anyways. I was afraid it was going to be a lot tougher then it was.

Well, I have a SIXAXIS controller and I tried to take that apart. If you want to try, then good luck. It's a pain to put back together, especially if you misplaced one of the springs for the L2 and R2 triggers.

I did it. It's not that bad. LIke dude said, watch a youtube vid of it. Keep it handy to help you out. The L1/L2 and R1/R2 are the hardest part to get in place while you're putting it back together. But it's not that bad.
