I like to talk philosophy and I'm sure plenty others like a good ramble about things too. Discuss existence, aliens, the meaning of life, why cheeseburgers taste so good etc. in here. Just release the mysterious questions and answers on your mind.
Something I've been interested in, do you think we have free will? Have we really got a choice or is our path already determined? For example, I decided to make this thread, but did I really decide it or was it an already determined action and my brain makes me think I had the choice. After all, we are only complex machines, whether we've evolved or been created by a God. Free will is something we can't test or prove so what do you think?
Do not discuss religion. It's a banned topic here - gruddy

Religion talk is not allowed here.
I think that what's going to happen happens. Everything is set. You can change your mind the last second but that was going to happen either way. I take a look at life with the view that 'what's done is done' and 'what happens happens'.

I think stuff like this is a real brain teaser at times. I have been wondering about that question for a very long time, though, and I have not ever had the correct answer before.
I have a question, though:
Do you think when we live our lives it is already made up, or you determine your life style ect?...

Like I said before, we can choose what he do. Everything is up to us.
However, the choice we make was going to be made. If you get what I mean

I believe what I have done in life is my accomplishments. Nobody/nothing decided that for me. There is no fate, there is no "destiny", what is, is because it was made that way by the decisions in life.
So opposite of Gruddy, but I still go with the same "What happens happens, and the past is the past"

How dare you disagree with my sharky?

At least we agree about the past thing

How do you know that's not your genetics and instincts doing the decisions for you, maybe your decisions are already foretold by the chemical composition of you brain or something like that. It just feels odd that we can chose what to do, we are what out body is made up off, so it's already been decided in a way. Unless we have a form of conscious that is detached or not part of us physically.
The same way a robot can is programmed to react a certain way to something, that's basically us but a billion times more complex.
Also, when you close a door, how do you know that the room behind it still exists? Are our physical processes driven by the force of what makes us alive, or are we kept alive by those physical processes? Does life leave us when our hearts stop, or does our heart stop when it leaves? hmmmm

personally i would hate to think that my life as a whole is pre-determind, as in there is no point in me thinking about my life stages because whatever i do doesn't matter. If that were true, what would the point of thought be, and everyone's lifes? Futhermore, if everything is pre-determind and everyone's lifes are following a set path or set train of thought ... then what are all the pre-determined paths leading to?
For me, i like to think that our past changes our future through our brain processing emotions and learning from it. As a person i am very spontaneous and am getting married in 2 weeks. I like to think however that what i do and why i'm doing is of my own free will.

I am a proof type of person. I dont believe something unless I see some form of proof to at least make it seem beleivable.
And there is no way someone is telling me that everything I have done in my life was "given" to me via some great scheme/plan. Otherwise the hard work I have put in to get to where I am is all pointless?
I would elaborate, but um....
I am just a dumb blonde, and that last paragraph just made my head hurt, as it makes absolutely no sense to me... Of course things exist after you leave it....

They are leading to what they are leading

We will all die in the end.
As for saying that there's no point, it's up to you how you live your life. Give yourself meaning. What you do was going to happen. However, that doesn't mean you have to waste your life sitting doing nothing. It's your choice. But it was set.

This is confusing. Just wait untill 'the last day' and all will be revealed. Hopefully.

Agree with Sharky's thing and Gruddy's Past thing!

'You cant see past the choices you made'
I really think nothing is fate, you cant have a set path for your whole life.
Or maybe everything is set that even a change you think is not of fate, is actually in the set path already...
But for me whatever happens, good or bad is based on what you have done in the past. (nothing to do with fate)
Whatever goes around, comes around.

Hmmm, I was thinking how insane it is, that people can learn from their own brain. It's been used for thousands of years via certain drugs, they have this trip and something (most likely their own sub-conscious) communicated with them and generally teaches them new things... How crazy is that???
It's like opening doors in your brain, It really fascinated me when I took Peyote once, that when I closed my eyes I could see the most beautiful artistic imagery which I could never dream of creating, then it occured to me... I AM creating this with my own brain, are we all born with this creative ability, how can some harness it and others can't?
I mean, I've always hated art because I suck so bad at it, a stickman is the best I can do. But this was pure creation going on in my mind! Not pictures I've already seen, it was all be designed and created by my own brain.

It's like the great saying, if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around, does it make a sound? Without actually being in that room behind that door, how can you be 100% sure it doesn't just vanish when you close the door and reappear when you open it. As if the world was a computer, saving CPU on unneeded resources like a room no one is using.
I love philosophy, although alot is melancholy, like 'Whats the point to life?'.
I'm a believer in choice, your life isn't in the hands of fate, you always have a choice.

I myself thinks that the purpose of life is to die.
But it is the things that you have done and defined.
Otherwise there is no reason to live, apart from those happy things in life.

So if you leave a hidden camera in there, the worlds CPU knows that it is needed and leaves it on?
but never glitches or else its secret would be found out?
nope, not buying it one bit
And way to talk around in circles Gruddy, that is usually what I do.
How can you make the most of it, if your life is already set for you. You are going to do exactly what you are going to do right?. I know this is what you where going for, but that makes no sense what so ever to me anyways.

Just leave me alone Sharky!
*Starts crying*
I don't agree that the world is a computer though. Everything is real. Everything is there.

I dont claim to know it all. I claim to not know it all. I know that I dont know all, and in my lifetime, cant possibly know it all. In my mind, I have arguments for and against destiny and free-will. I know that these arguments, even though backed up with facts and blurred by opinion, are falliable. Therefore, I dont choose a side.

The developer company (GOD Industries) did leave a few easter eggs within the world. Bermuda Triangle, Atlantis and their lastest DLC patch George W. Bush, although that patch was panned by critics.
^ Metaphor Gruddy.
Rendering that post null and pointless
