I have been so frustrated with this infamous piece of SH*T over the past months. Slugish, slow, clunky and extremely inefficient. Back to XP tomorrow after finishing my backup.
Any of you guys happy to downgrade as well?

Have Vista at home and work, no problems or complaints.
Still running XP on one of my home PC's but only as its a fairly average spec and I know it wouldn't run Vista so haven't bothered.

I wouldn't consider it a downgrade to go to XP, but have you considered upgrading to Windows 7? I haven't tried it yet but have heard a lot of good things.

I'm using 7 RC1 right now and it is really, really good. I find it to be much improved over Vista all-around.

Still using vista on my laptop, and windows 7 on my PC. No problem on either machine. In b4 "lol vista uzez s0 mch ram" argument.

Yeah, I hate Vista. Just today when copying 7 gigs of files to a flash card it kept saying "program not responding" was what Vista told me. But it was actually just doing it's job and I had to wait the 15 min for it to finish before that error went away.
That's how crappy it is, even Vista has low confidence in itself.

I think vista's better than XP, way better looking and more stable. I've used it on high-end and entry-level PCs and it works just as well on both.

For all of you recommending W7, I won't be putting a beta as an OS in my system coming from MS as good as it is. Rather have a stable XP. Playing around with MS's OSs is just like playing around with a nuclear reactor.

Dude, it's not a beta. It's a Release Candidate, different kettle of fish.
Also, in it's current state, it's more stable and secure than Windows XP. You won't believe it until you try it, it is FANTASTIC! Considering it's on my main gaming PC, that speaks for itself.--scottscorpionthis forum is dumb.. you get infracted for posting a pic of a sexy lady with a barley see through top on, yet its ok to post video of interspecies sexual assault

I am not a fan of Vista at all.
Wasn't really a fan of XP either to be honest but I may give Windows 7 a shot if it's all that! lol

It is!
Like I said, when I got my rig built for me, I said don't bother with an OS. I was so confident that Windows 7 X64 would work with everything I wanted on my rig. It hasn't let me down yet, even games that weren't designed with Win 7 X64 work on it. Hell, even Ubisoft games work on it, that's saying something.
Avast Works, Spybot works, Gamespy Comrade works, EA download manager works, FF works, everything just works!--scottscorpionthis forum is dumb.. you get infracted for posting a pic of a sexy lady with a barley see through top on, yet its ok to post video of interspecies sexual assault

Look, if you have the time, install the W7 RC and see what it is like for yourself.
You may not like it, but i doubt that will happen. I haven't had any problems with it, software all works fine and it is not a sluggish as Vista. If you have a new-ish cpu, then you should be able to run 'Windows XP Mode' which is a XP virtual machine incase some programs don't work for you (again i doubt that will happen).
If you don't have the time, then just install XP like you had planned.A man can dream though. A man can dream...

It even runs on my Netbook!
Seriously, it runs blisteringly fast on a Netbook and super ultra uber n00b fast on my rig.--scottscorpionthis forum is dumb.. you get infracted for posting a pic of a sexy lady with a barley see through top on, yet its ok to post video of interspecies sexual assault
