I'm pretty sure american football going to sweep the floor(although it shouldn't). Me and mates havin argument, therefore must drag it onto forums.
Now I would say aussie rules. Yea rugby close and gridiron has big hits. But footy is real rough(most recent example judd broken nose and the docs tryin to stop his nose bleedin whole time so he didn't get kicked off, then the blood went down back of throat and still played) and the players tough it out and there are usually some epic clashes.
Oh and table tennis is intense...

rugby in general, rugby union in particular.

I'm actually suprised. Usually when these arguments start americans come in and start posting gifs everywhere. And only aussies really know about footy, kiwis might get it unsure.
Also no one has voted for table tennis

well, since we're talking ball sports instead of all sports (MMA is the toughest obviously), i'd have to say table tennis. if you get in a heated game, and someone hits a hard ball in your face. you're dead instantly. i've seen a few table tennis fatalities, and let me tell you, it isn't pretty. all these other girly games make me laugh when compared to the table tennis.

I've heard quite a few things about Australian Rules Football, so I may or may not give that the nod.

Hard to go past League. The hits those guys take week in and week out yet continue to get up from, for 6 months of the year is nuts. Union players when it comes to the amount of games they play are friggin girls always moaning about playing too much.
Yet look at League players. State of Origin on a Wednesday and then some of them back it up with a Friday game. Thurston played INTERNATIONAL for Australia on a Wednesday then backed up less than 48 hours later.

I love AFL Football and I don't really like Rugby, but Rugby is definatly the toughest sport out there.
No padding and massive hits.
No offense to any Americans out there, but NFL is a joke when it comes to toughness.
They wear padding, run a play, take a minute break and then run another play.

I disagree on a number of accounts:
1) I don't mind the padding if they're increasing the lifespan of these athletes. I've played Football, and the hits I've made could've broken my own bones if it weren't for padding.
2) As for the taking a break thing, that's not really the case. In fact, alot of teams don't even do that anymore. No-huddle offense is a current trend of the NFL, so that makes that argument moot. No-huddle offense is an offense that doesn't involve the break you speak of. They rush to the line, and make their calls from the line of scrimmage. Even with that, I don't see why it would be bad for a team to going into the huddle, take the time to find the right play that would work against a defense, and run it.
This tough guy competition doesn't appeal to me at all. I'd much see these athletes live healthier lives after their careers alone. The NFL in particular doesn't take good enough care of ex-NFL players......

American football. If you think those pads make it where it doesn't hurt, you're very wrong.
If you put the manliest man from rugby in american football gear and he gets hit like that poor chap in the black jersey, he's still gonna be lying on the ground a while too.

I've only seen a few american football games and while they can have those BOOM moments rugby looks constantly painful even when pace slow they just get slammed to ground and those chicken wing tackles are evil.
Oh and in rugby after they do an awesome tackle they don't masturbate over themselves. More vids I see the more rugby looks tougher, alot tougher. That's not saying american one isn't tough but I would put it below afl. I just went footy due to the overall toughness you would have to be so fit and also you got the marking. Although not as brutal in old days those packs are tough and you'de need a lot of courage to go with flight of ball and mark.
Also I'm assuming your not serious about table tennis one. You sounded pretty serious tho. How would someone die in table tennis....Some wise quote should go here, so here it is; "KFC is better than Mcdonalds"
