I've never heard of the brand that you posted. You're better off with the smaller Bravia.

To sum it up:
The lower the response time the better.
The higher the contrast ratio the better.

Yeah, If you can't afford a Pioneer then the Bravia will do just nicely!

I've got a Samsung and I can honestly say it's the best picture I've seen on an LCD TV (outwith the Pioneers I've seen) but the new OLED Samsungs just blow me away! They are awesome!

can some one tell me why a bravia or a 1080p lcd screen would be better?Love United

The quality difference between a Bravia and a Samsung would be negligible to someone like you (that doesn't now what to look out for, no offense!)
1080p is just a higher resolution. If you're going to go for a 40+ inch TV, you might as go 1080p, though again, you might not notice the difference.

dont worry i wont take offense

ill +rep u for the help...
but i got a few more questions...
i would ONLY use the TV for PS3 use... so blu-ray and Gaming... so would 1080p matter a lot? i mean the only plasmas in my price range are 720p...
i had the understanding plasmas are a lot better... but if its not that big of a difference might as well get a 1080p lcd, right?
i think the biggest thing i am looking for is size, as long as its big, and will look good, i dont care about much else... so im pretty much trying to find the best quality 40'' or more TV for 700$ or lessLove United

Plasma is better IMO. You do have to be wary of image retention, but burn in I don't think you'd have a problem with. I've heard of phosphor lag being a problem when gaming with plasmas, too.
LCDs are a good choice just because they can be had for good prices and offer decent performance in all light conditions. You lose some black level w/ LCDs, but most people get them because they are popular and easy to use, I guess you could say. Motion blur annoys me on them, though.
Look up some reviews on the TVs you are considering and you will get a better idea of the drawbacks. I don't think I would get that no-name brand LCD.
The Panasonic X1 42" plasma is on sale at Best Buy for $600 right now. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218061795104 If it were me I'd probably get this Panny. Great TV for $600. I bet it's better than that Samsung. Panasonics are good plasmas, and I think that Samsung you linked to is an older model.
The one drawback to the 42" plasmas is most of them are going to be 1024x768 resolution. Not a deal breaker IMO, but they don't have the pixels of a TRUE 720p resolution. They'll still look great though.

I have a Bravia and it's been a great TV to me, i love it.
The only thing i would say is that most games on the PS3 only support 720p if i am correct. Can anyone confirm?
And if you want the best advice on this matter i would suggest contacting REFLEX
he seems to know everything about this sort of stuff.

LCD's do not have burn in but plasma's do - it will obviously take quite a long time to do it though. Plasma have deeper colours and cope better with fast movements that will be slightly blurred on lcd's
The fact that it is not a greatly known brand does not mean it is bad, i have a tv that isn't greatly known but it is brilliant.
Plasma's only start at about 40" so then you are looking at prices a bit more expensive.
For what you are looking for i would think that the sceptre is fine, it all depends really whether on if you want a 40" sceptre or 32" bravia. Out of those two it is all really a matter of preference.
Hope i helpedI can read your thoughts.
