The Final Fantasy remakes are good choices for some turn--basing.

It's more run around and hack and slash, very good quality. Nice equipment system, multiple story lines.

First Departure is great, but Second Evolution is on a whole other level. For Ps1 ports they have been touched up in every way possible.

Final Fantasy Crisis Core is good. I'm not an FFVII fan but I rented CC, beat it and loved it from beginning to finish.

Right now I'm playing Star Ocean: Second Evolution and it's amazing. I don't think I'm anywhere close to the end and I have to return it in two days so I suspect I'll be buying it soon. The fights are fast and furious, especially when you push into the later levels and start attaining some of the more flashier skills. It's all in real-time. You'll love it.

I would love to try out Brave Traveler, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. It's funny that I only enjoy RPGs when they're portable (FFX being the exception). Ah, well.

me 2... i could never play a turn based game on a console...
i might play FF13 just to play it though...

but yeah... its a great game... battle system is pretty fun for turn based... and the story is interesting

FFVII Crisis Core plays alot like Kingdom Hearts 1 (even the dodge roll) so you might enjoy that.

I think Tales of Eternia is also action-based.

About Brave Traveler, I seem to have trouble finding a video for that game on youtube.

When I do search I get this game instead, Brave Story: New Traveler.

EDIT: Nevermind it turned out to be that is actually the game, lol
I feel dumb.

X-Men Legends 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance,Valhalla Knights 1 & 2,Untold Legends 1 & 2, (I don't think so) But some websites had Kingdom of Paradise down as a action RPG. Also Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 coming in September. All the other Action RPG's for PSP I know of were named already.

totally forgot about that.

Enjoyed this alot but it will probably feel extremly dated now compared to other rpgs out there, even compared to old ports like tales of eternia. I think enjoyed it more when it came out because I was amazed at how the psp could handle this. Obviously, recent rpgs have surpassed it in gameplay mechanics and presentation.

ok ill probaly end up getting crisis core... only reason i am staying away from it is because i was gonna wait to play it... i wanted to save it for a big trip or something... but i will probaly just get it...

kingdom hearts is amazing, anything like it will rock

well im not the biggest turn based RPG fan

but i like brave-story (new traveler) a-lot

and a few original final fantasy games is re-made on the psp...

also if you like turn based strategy games...Jeanne d'Arc is great...

overall... if you like turn based... you will like brave story...

i dont like turn based, and i still like that game...

Absolutely try out Crimson Gem Saga. One of the best RPGs on the handheld IMO. Can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet!

Valhalla Knights is sort of like Star Ocean Second Evolution, as in you travel around and once you get in a fight Your party of up to 6 characters which are fully customizable do battle. The Story of the first one doesn't get good until the backend of the game. The story of the second game gets good quicker but still takes along time before the juicy stuff starts.

But besides the story the game is good with a wide arrange of weapons spells that you can customize your charcters with. You'll like it it's a good game, and you dont have to play the first one to play the second.

Don't forget valkyrie profile lennth and all the legend of heroes. They're good games.

You can save the 300 side missions for trips, the story in this game should be played in a dark quiet room with headphones on full to grasp the entire background soundtrack and emotion.
