Battlefield: Bad Company l OFFICIAL THREAD l *Tip on how to get F2000 updated 8/10/9*

    UPDATE
    8/10/9

Here's a good way to get the weapon F2000

unlocked without ever owning any BF game before BC.

All you need to do is this: download the BF2 demo on your PC (You don't need to get this game running or play at all, so even if your PC is lame or you have a laptop, you can still do this)

    http://download.nvidia.com/downloads...os/BF2Demo.zip

    Unzip it by Winrar.

Install the demo. Then install Gamespy.

    Make an account on Gamespy.

Remember this login user and password.

    Then go here:

    http://veteran.battlefield.com/

Register your BF:BC account here. (They will need your PSN ID/password I believe)

Once you've registered. Select the 2nd game down from the list (It should say Battlefield 2 PC, NOT BF2: Special forces or anything like that, those are expansions).

Then enter the username (not email) and password from your Gamespy account.

[Note: Now, one weird thing happened to me so you may need to try some other things if it doesn't verify the account. Gamespy made me choose "ThatWolfSilver" instead of "WolfSilver" because it was taken but I ended up entering "WolfSilver" on the Veteran Status page where I need to register my game, so I donno why this happened...maybe because I used to play the demo long time ago? But then I'm sure I never used WolfSilver back then. So be advised, you may run into an issue here. Hopefully you won't, if you do, let me know, maybe I can help.]

If it says you are verified then you can then go onto BF:BC and it should say that the weapon was unlocked.

    Gilly3's Guide!

[reveal]there are many ways in which to play this game. im just going to point out a few simple ways to keep yourself alive and have a great gaming experience. also this is based on the game mode Gold Rush, because i dont play a lot of conquest.

first of all im going to go through each class and the equipment that you have availiable.

    RECON:

Rifle: there are two different kinds of sniper rifle to use, the first is the automatic, rapidfire rifle. this type of rifle requires usually 2-3 shots to make a kill. they are considered easier to get kills with, but have the disadvantage of having to hit more shots. the other type is the bolt action single shot rifle. these rifles are more accurate and more powerful than the automatic ones. they also have better range, although this is only slightly better. with the single shot rifle a shot to the head at any range will make a kill. or a shot from closer range will do so as well. they advantage of this rifle is that you only have to hit one shot, but if you miss there may not be another opportunity to get that kill.

Handgun: again as with the rifle there are two types of handgun. unfortunately these cannot be selected by the user, they just depend on the map and if you are attacking and defending. the first is a 6 shot "magnum" style gun wich has quite a bit of power. the next is a 12 shot XD-9. both of these are somewhat useful but if things get a little hairy in close i suggest you use a knife. the other thing they can be used for, when you use the single shot rifle, if you hit someone with the rifle and they dont die pull out the handgun and start shooting in the direction of the enemy. dont worry about te range, most of the time itt only takes one shot to hit so just keep hammering away and you should hit them.

Sensor: alright, when i play i see a lot of people who don't know what they do. very simply they reveal the enemys position as long as they are inside the circle that expands from the ball. use these when you are around the gold crates (attacking or defending) and when you know there is someone nearby and are not sure where they are. these will save your life and probably many others, learn to use them.

Laser Designator: so this is the snipers big weapon against vehicles. simply taget an enemy vehicle then guide the missile down on top of it. this does take a little practise to get used to but you will find it very useful once you get the hang of it. TIP: you dont have to target the vehicle you want to hit, it can be an abandoned tank/car/boat or another enemy vehicle. it can be very satisfying to blow up a tank with the missile when they dont see it coming.

    ASSAULT:

Rifle: the assualt rifles do vary quite a bit. i suggest you try each of them and see which ones you are most comfortable with. the basic principle is just point and shoot, the assault rifles all have good range and power.

Grenade Launcher: the grenade launcher isnt very effective, even a direct hit on a person will rarely kill them. instead use it incrowded rooms and against people who are already damaged. i suggest you dont try and take on tanks and other vehicles unless you havent been seen and others are shooting at it also. it is also useful for blowing walls off.

Grenade: very simple, use it when you need to go over an obstacle or around a corner, they can do a lot of damage if you learn to judge how far away someone is. a personal favourite of mine is to throw a grenade at someone who hasn't seen you then hide, wait for the bang and go finish them off if need be.

Health Injector: this is a useful tool in your kit, make good use of it. the only real tip here is to make sure you get to cover whilst you heal. then i suggest you find another route to the one you were taking.

    DEMOLITION:

Shotgun: the majority of shotguns in this game are the typical one shot guns, but there are 3 automatic ones. the single shot ones are extremely powerful and basically beat anything at close range. the automatic ones have a little bit more range and accuracy but you have to fire of 4 shot for a kill. they are rather quick though. by personal preference i use two of the automatic ones rather than the single shot. but i have to say, once you have practised with the single shot ones they are very effective. but if you miss, goodbye.

Rocket Launcher: technically speaking there are three different types but for this i will just be writing them up as the same. they are a very useful part of the Demo kit and are essential for maps with lots of vehicles. they will go straight for a long distance and have a rather high explosive content. it usually takes 3 hits on a tank to destroy it, one hit on an artillery as well as a boat and a chopper. some cars will also be destroyed after one hit but may take a bit more. they are also effective against people, anyone sitting still can basically be hit.

    Grenade: see above (Assault section)

Anti Tank Mine: these can be used in two different ways. one is to place them along common tank routes and wait for someone to drive over it. the other is to find a tank, creep up and place one in front and one behind it then shoot the tank with the rocket launcher, most of the time this will make the driver move thus blowing themselves up BEWARE you may get blown up as well, so i suggest you move quickly. there is also the suicide move. run in front of a tank and let him think he will run you over, throw a ATM in front of you and they will most likely drive over it, killing both of you.

    SPECIALIST:

SMG: basically these guns fire small calibur bullets very rapidly. if you are close to someone this is a very effective gun to use. all of the SMGs are fitted with silencers, although they do hiss a little when you shoot. this can be an effective way to keep yourself hidden. they are also very powerful which means quick kills, and you can get 2-3 kills out of one clip.

C4: this has to be one of my favourite pieces of equipment. put one on a tank and boom its gone. also can be used by placing on the ground and walls that people walk past. but the best thing i use these for is to damage crates. you carry 5 packets and those on a crate will damage it around 60%. this is a good way to take crates because if the enemy hasnt seen you they are not alerted to you being there till after you blow it up.

    Grenade: see above (Assault section)

Laser Tagger: this is used against vehicles. it basically lets your team be able to see it from wherever they are. it also lights it up for the snipers laser designator. it also makes the anti-tank missiles go towards it.

    SUPPORT:

LMG: the lmg is a good gun at range as well as in close, don't expect to go beating SMGs in a close battle, but if you catch someone off guard then you should win out. the LMG is basically for personal protection though. dont go firing off where it isn't necessary.

Health Pack: the health pack can be a great tool for gaining points. as a support player the best thing you can do is keep your team mates alive. especially when you are attacking, simply because there are a limited amount of lives to be had. if you keep 10 people alive its 10 more kills the opposition has to get. this amazes me also in the fact that people wont always give you health, i assume its because they dont know how. in that case all it takes is for you too pull out the health pack and hit the fire button it will put a pack on the ground for others to walk over, you can also do this to heal yourself. thanks to sergeriver: Here's a little tip for support. If you want to know if someone is following you or coming to where you are camping, leave a medikit in the floor (f.i. if you are in the second floor of a house, leave it in the stairs). When an enemy picks the medikit you'll see a red semicircle around your aim dot, just like the one you see when you shoot an enemy.

Tool: the tool is what you use to fix vehicles. it can also be used to fix stationary guns. very simple to use walk up to whatever needs fixing and press the fire button. it can also be used offensively against tanks/cars etc. although i dont advise this because most of the time people will just get out and kill you. thanks to Terminator101 and Smurfn: use the tool to break through walls/give better line of sight.

Mortar Strike: this it a highly useful tool on some of the smaller maps. because it gives you a higher chance of hitting someone. use it to get kills on people hiding in roofes etc. it can also be effective against vehicles that are sitting still and also for damaging crates. be careful though as team members will often run into you mortar fire.

ALL SUPPORT PLAYERS: keep an eye on the map as it shows people with less then 50 health, also vehicles that need repairing.

i will be updating this thread with each map and strategies on taking crates. also to come is the survival guide.

    SURVIVAL TIPS

    1) the biggest thing you can do to stay alive is to stay hidden, and this doesn't mean stay still, just try to stay out of the line of sight.

    2) don't camp, if you sit still someone will see you and know exactly where you are.

    3) when defending try not to sit next to the crates. the attackers are focused on these and if you sit next to one you are more likely to be seen.

    4) use the terrain, buildings, bushes for cover. dont blow everything to oblivion so you can see the enemy coming (they can see you too).

    5) use weapons that suit your style of game, as well as the map your currently on. EG: i don't use specialist on the more open maps because of the lack of range.

    6) make use of vehicles. most of the time you will not be killed in a vehicle with one shot, it usually takes a general degradation of the armour (depending on the vehicle). use vehicles to your advantage and when it is damaged either leave it or fix it. if you do leave it destroy it, an enemy soldier can fix it and use it against your team.

    7) learn the maps. find good spots to attack crates from. useful places to leave Anti Tank Mines etc. remember where snipers like to sit.

8 ) don't focus on one person, if you see someone by all means try and kill them, just don't do so at the expense of your own. basically don't run across the map to kill someone you have seen.

    9) use your team mates and squad members. if you get killed by someone let everyone else know where they are. also if you see someone who is out of your range, call it out.

    10) stick with another team member. two is better than one in most cases. if you come across an enemy they are more likely to die.

if anyone has more id be willing to add them to the list. [/reveal]

[reveal]Alright, pretty late to the party but I tried searching for an official thread and couldn't find it.

The sole purpose of this thread is to keep all the BF:BC peeps in one place, where everyone can meet other BF:BC players.

If you want to add me, my PSN id is WolfSilver. But I will say one thing, I never have a set schedule. I may play from 10 minutes to an hour but it's usually in the evening. Other than that, it's usually on and off, I never know when I'll be on.

However, I do play almost every time on Friday nights (usually from 10pm-11:30pm Central US Time)

Almost definitely on Saturday mornings around 7am-11am Central US Time (but usually 9am-10am)

    Sometimes
Saturday nights as well but almost definitely Sunday mornings (same timings as Saturday).

I have a better chance to be on for longer than an hour on weekends.

I'm sorry my schedule is so strict and random. It's usually dependent on what my wife is doing, not me. So again, apologies to anyone on my friends list whom I never get a chance to play BF:BC with.

P.S. If I'm on and I'm not playing a game, 99% of the times it's either me and my wife watching a movie. (if it's before 4pm central time then it's my wife watching a movie and I'm at work)[/reveal]

Cool. I'm assuming that's either the platinum or one of the highest trophies you can get? If so, congrats. I like the in-game trophies way more than actual ones lol.

Something about getting those trophies up there, makes it rewarding, i donno why.

i usually like to play unranked to get my personal skill up but i play ranked sometimes to get the weapons i want...since i'm always lone-wolf, i can't keep playing ranked in a room where i donno anyone so I only play ranked when I have a lot of time to play. So im learning a lot of cool things in unranked, trying out new guns and stuff but would love to play ranked with people i can communicate or know what they're doing. (also this will help me learn new things)

Oh yea I was wondering why I hadn't played with you yet lol. I forgot about that issue. Actually I have only played with Terminator101 yet and everytime I get on, I have something to do or company or wife needs me so I end up going offline i feel bad to leave like that.

haven't played with holdenkid (gilly3) either. I realized the reason why is because you gotta invite them before you even get on...need to get used to doing that.

alright, ill invite ya next time i see you.

Yes a lot of people still play this game. Probably not as much as COD4 or Socom but definitely more than the rest. I'd say it's number 3 of all PS3 games played...just a guess.

It's actually very easy to find a full game. Now...it's never certain because there's no way to actually opt for a full room but usually in the daytime, you can find full rooms easily, at night...usually 6vs6 or 8vs8.

I just picked this game up today and I'm looking for people to play with. I don't really have a set schedule for when I play, but I usually play for a couple hours throughout the day. I have a mic, but don't usually use it unless I'm playing with people on my friends list. This will probably be my main online game until all the new games release later this fall. If you still play this game online often, add me PSN: t-gill88.

I have officially decided that I will play mostly with the sniper than any other class.

Not because I'm good with the sniper (I'm only decent), not that I'm amazing with a pistol (but I'm pretty good) but because of the motion sensor. I get so many kills knifing or shooting people with a pistol, even at a decent range if they don't know about me for a second or so.

It also helps my teammates "tremendously". I mean, how easy it would be if someone is attacking or if you're attacking a base, to actually see where they are...they have no chance against you, even if there are multiple of them.

I've tried being an assault, you get more kills but you also have the chance to die more often. That self-healing ability is kinda pointless for the most part since I like to rush and run around a lot lol.

Demolition, I think the shotty is a piece of crap. Some people are good with it, I'm ok, not great. Rocket launchers take more than one shot to kill a tank, mines are great but usually either someone blows them up or no one runs into them (i try to plant in the middle of the road too! maybe no one is using the road anymore lol).

Support...I try to heal people but usually it's no use, either they're not good or they die without doing anything even after I heal them. Maybe this will be great when you're playing with people you know but I donno. It's fun though.

Specialist. Now I like this class because you can pretty much blow up the crates without letting anyone know...just plant all of your c4s and plant the bomb and then back up and start throwing grenades at it. Within 10 seconds, you will blow it up. Also, it's faster than an assault when up close. That's about it though. Good for tanks! Better than demo in my opinion.

So the only two classes I like are specialist and now the sniping one...believe it or not, the sensor is game-changing. If you're around that ammo box, you have unlimited sensors. Basically, NO ONE can sneak up. You just gotta keep it up and throw it in all corners. Viola. Makes defending piece of cake and attacking so much easier.

Can't wait to play with people who are good!

I was talking about "There is no I in the squad". It is best to get it when there are low numbers of people on each team, and when most of your squad mates have mics. That way, they can talk to each other and agree if they want to do this or not.
I can't promise you will get it any time soon, but if the mentioned situation ever happens, I will try to convince the other squad mate(s) to help you get it.

Anyway, I will be playing from 8pm or 9pm tonight.

I can't promise you will get it any time soon, but if the mentioned situation ever happens, I will try to convince the other squad mate(s) to help you get it.

Anyway, I will be playing from 8pm or 9pm tonight.
Cool. Yea, that'd be great. I know that trophy is kinda tough.

Btw, good to play with you last night. I'm sorry I could not play for more than 2 games though. It was fun having Kopkiwi on the other side lol...he caught me red-handed a few times.

I would...BUT, I wouldn't recommend playing on "Hard". I mean, it's fun and all and you would need to do it to get some of the trophies but Goddamn, it's so annoying sometimes.

Usually it's easy but whenever a chopper appears, I get killed 20 times lol. I figured out in one instance that you just CAN'T kill the chopper so the point is to run away from it, it still took me 10 tries on hard. It was just annoying. Good thing is, you actually RESPAWN, which means that whatever damage you had done, is done, it doesn't reload from a certain point.

Some parts where tanks appear, are also annoying...break the whole pace. There was one level where there were about 10 tanks in the entire map and all i was trying to do was kill them...but i ran out of rockets and there was no tank close to me that i could use (cause one of them got destroyed and it didn't respawn me with a new tank like it usually did before). So I had no tank, i had a rocket launcher but every tank took 2-3 rockets...so I had to go all the way back, just to get rockets. Took me more than an hour for something that should've taken 10 minutes. ANNOYING!

So if you're trying to get all trophies, start on hard, if you're just trying to have fun, I would go with the easiest difficulty. Single-player is pretty fun though, gives you more chance to learn the guns and stuff. Only bad thing is that, almost none of the missions give you much option for strategy...and usually you're stuck with boring guns unless you go out there to find some.

Guys, I added in my original post on how to unlock the F2000 weapon. It's bit of a hassle but supposedly this weapon is good up close if you want to be an assault so there are times when I want to be assault but I have to end up taking specialist for close range battles. Now i won't have to!

[Note: The only way you can acquire this weapon is to either buy the gold edition or have played a BF game in the past (I believe BF 1943 is good for this as well)...so if you don't own any other BF game, then this is the only way you can get this weapon as I've explained below).]

I'm going to quote it here for extra coverage:

UPDATE: Here's a good way to get the weapon F2000
unlocked without ever owning any BF game before BC.

All you need to do is, download the BF2 demo on your PC (You don't need to get this game running or play at all, so even if your PC is lame or you have a laptop, you can still do this)

    http://download.nvidia.com/downloads...os/BF2Demo.zip

I own every one of the Battlefields so have had this gun since release day , its a decent gun mate but it doesn't really make that much of a difference as everything is balanced out , it was just fun to have one in the early days and other players used to gather around me hoping to pick it up when I died !
