Well with all the hype surrounding the new Price drop and the redesigned PS3, I was thinking it would be interesting to see how much you think the PS3 will sell from now until this coming holiday season. With a few major titles coming out this year i.e Final Fantasy XIII, Modern Warfare 2 and Uncharted 2. I know the sales will be pretty good this year end.
for my guestimation I'll say, the Ps3 will sell about 6 mil units by year end.
whats your guess?
Edit: I was thinking maybe we should make it a little more detailed as in the number of units in each region.

Your Sales Guestimation
Uh oh. You guys are gonna jinx it!
Sony you sneaky Devil.
Yea I'm surprised as well by their almost unanimous moves. Bunch of things coming out at around the same time to cause quite a stir.
First there was PSP Go, then PS2 price cut, now Slim with a price cut, then FW 3.0, MAG beta, LBP gets water etc. and a few things I can't think off the top of my head.
Let's not and say we did...
Expectations have been through the roof this whole gen. PS3 fans deserve a day to kick back and not worry about the console wars so much. LOL
Prediction: Sales will be fine
To be honest I wasn't really trying to do a sales comparison with Sony's competitors really, this was more of a lets see who can guess how much (or close to) how much the PS3 will sell by year end thread.
But I understand you guys concern, some may not see it from my perspective.
6 million sold world wide by years end,, yes it will sell that much
3M Units world wide from now unit Black Friday (Nov 27th this year.) And another 4.5M units from Black Friday - Jan 8th (I give the week after the holiday's as holiday sales because of gift cards.) If we just limit it to official holiday season of Black Friday - Dec 26th, then I say 4M units, putting it at a total of 7M PS3 Slim sales for 2009.
well last month didn't the PS3 only have like 130k sales? I'm hoping they go up to at least 400k a month now, but really it comes down to Sony marketing. If they don't market the hell out of the Slim, then it's not going to get them much further than they already are. That's my opinion at least.
Although, i'll be shocked if the PS3 Slim doesn't sell more than 400k for September. I would pretty much assume that Sony is screwed if it doesn't. (assuming they have enough in stock to keep up with sales).
I predict that Sony will meet or get very close to the 13M they estimated for the end of March 2010.
I also predict that the PS3 will trail the 360 in the NPD by a little bit still in November and December at least, and some people will say that the PS3 PC didn't work and Sony are screwed. But then we will see that the rest of the World + NPD = about 13M, and some of the people will either ignore that fact like they did this last year and continue to say that the PS3 is screwed, or they will fall silent like they did after we heard these last quarters results.
I 100% predict that if the PS3 trails the 360 in the NPD in November and December by even 1%, people will say the PS3 is doomed and put blinders on that this is a global market, and not just a US based on. That's one of the constants in the world this gen. LOL.
We won't REALLY know what the worldwide sales impact of this price drop until TGS 2010 unless Sony feel up to announcing their worldwide sales before that point.
First week of the slim (in Europe) sales will be above Wii, after that probably 150K per week (360 does about 110K roughly). And yeah probably 6 mil by years end.
Im no good with numbers and all but my guess is they will sell a lot lol
6.5 to 7.5 million units worldwide... If they come out with GT5 worldwide.... 8 million
Next Gen top picks:
PS4: Infamous SS, DriveClub
One: Project spark, Forza 5
Multi: Watchdogs, The crew, FFXV, KHIII
Sony really need to advertise a lot now though, the average consumer has no idea a slim is coming at $299
