Definitely this.
When i started to make sigs, i just want to cram everything into the sig.
Not focusing on focal point at all.
(focal point= you main focus, the character/ object that you want to focus on)
But now i learn to limit what i put in there and try to bring out the focal point more.
You can try this by applying the image, blurring it and erasing the area of focal point with a low opacity brush.
Always remember, less is more.
