I usually save up for quality since it holds it's value. With quality lenses, you can use them for years and still sell them for a good amount of money. I sold off some of my old lenses since they only fit a cropped camera and updated to lenses that fit my camera. I had the 20d for around 8 years, so I don't update very often.
I am not one of the "millionaires and billionaires" that you are always hearing about...but I work for one.

Just bought myself From Dust from Uplay for $1.13 CDN.
http://shop.ubi.com/store/ubina/en_C...From-Dust.html
Few weeks ago I bought Rainbow Moon and had $8 left in my wallet, decided I'd pick up Two Worlds II Velvet GOTY from PSN when it hit $9.99. Sadly had to put $5 more into my wallet, which resulted in me having $3 in my wallet now. Decided to get Record of Agarest War for only $17 more.

Before I bought RoAW I ended up ordering Record of Agarest War Zero when I found it for $26.88. Looks interesting and, even though I'm still playing Rainbow Moon, I'm kind of in SRPG kick right now. Now I need 2 to get to $30 ASAP. :P

Also found Hyperdimension Neptunia for $34.98, and I jumped at it. Sadly its the UK import, but when I seen the NA editions for $100+ I decided why not. Looks interesting.
On again already? Didn't expect that. Oddly didnt know the Alan Wake Collection came with collector's edition extras, interesting. o.o

I have a big crush on Jodie Foster
what a classic and ultra-violent movie
44-page book/diary of the production, the director's thoughts on it even if he seems rather arrogant and egotistical...the director's cut has 150 cuts that were not in the original release...worth the $10 for how much you get

There is no way to compare straps side by side without ordering a bunch of them and sending back the straps you don't like. Since I didn't want to do that, I read a ton of reviews and went with the one that fit my needs better.
I am tall, so I was a bit worried about the stap being too short. Black Rapid has an extension you can buy if you need it. I also liked the ability to buy a storage case that could be removed when you don't need it. I bought the largest case they carry (it can hold a cell phone, memory cards, or a couple batteries). For those times I need it, I can just attach it to the strap.
Another major selling point was that it works with the Carry Speed mounting plate. The plate makes it easy to attach a tripod. It was $7.99 plus shipping. The Custom SLR version is around $75. I bought a couple so I could leave one of them attached to a 100-400mm collar...I don't think I would want to spend $150 for the same privilege.
Overall, it just fit my needs better. I also find it very comfortable, so I don't feel the need to compare it to other brands. Not saying it is the perfect fit for everyone, but I am happy with it.

I completely respect that, each one will find a certain product perfect for them but might not be so perfect for someone else's use. I was just like you before, I wanted to compare between the two companies but I couldn't do that because I have to import one and the other is just from retail.
For me, the there was nothing wrong with the Black Rapid straps, I have the Black Rapid RS 5 before I got the Custom Slr strap, but as much as it was already comfortable. I found that the Black Rapid strap easily loses its place on my shoulder and that the velcro storage on the strap itself was too clunky. (I want discreet and that thing made it hard for me to do so)
I'm not complaining about it, it just didn't work for as well as it could with me, when I'm out for my street photography. It comes back again to others finding it useful more than me, like yourself, and I've seen other photographers when I'm out using them as well.
The Custom Slr fitted me just perfect, the way that strap wrapped around over your shoulder, is comfortable for me. Even though, it cost me more and will probably cost me more if I want to buy accessories for me but I'm happy with my one for now.
If you get the chance though to try the Custom Slr strap and if you have a bad shoulder (hopefully not a bad back as well) like me, it will help for shooting on longer periods.
To get back on topic,
Here's the recent camera I bought, I wanted to learn film and this was shot on film, with ummm another film camera I picked up. :P

Its going to be a big update, here are some things I bought recently.
I picked up this two while I visit my nostalgic pokemon days.

Cds for my Eric Clapton collection.

Finally got around to completing my Harry Potter set. Also picked up The House of Flying Daggers blu ray, one of the best and beautiful asian movies I've seen.

Getting ready for the new Jason Bourne movie by watching the first three movies.

As a fan of Metal Gear Solid, I was devasted to find out that I lost my copy of MGS4. It got lost, in freight, while we were moving in Australia. I also picked up the PS3 HD collections of Metal Gear. I'm planning to replay MGS4 again for the trophies but first, I'll play from the start.

A new wide angle lens for my camera.
