No, none of that.
I used to be big into photography in the late 80s and early 90s. At the time I had a Minolta Maxxum 35mm SLR, but film and developing costs got too expensive and I basically gave up the hobby. For some strange reason I never bought a digital SLR camera until now.
But now I'm wanting to pick the old hobby back up. Later this year I have a week long vacation planned in Rocky Mountain National Park, and I am hoping to get a lot of great shots of the mountains, waterfalls, animals, and especially the stars at night. I'm particularly interested in doing a timelapse of the night sky during the Perseid Meteor Shower, which will be at it's peak while I am there. I'm going to be in the Grand Lake area, so not much city light to contend with.
Hopefully I can get something like this out of it...
I still need to get a few more things for it. Telephoto lens, maybe a wide angle one as well, polarized lens filter, remote timer, and a tripod, but this is a good start. Now I just need to learn how to use the damn thing. The number of buttons, dials, and screen options is staggering, and I'm sure most of them are virtually useless.Last edited by Completely Average; 01-11-2013 at 18:14.

Nice camera Average. My mom has one similar. It's a world of difference between the image of something like that and a $300 digital camera. Is that Montana in those pictures. Looks like the area in Banff National Park. Such a beautiful area if you haven't been. Definitely suggest it to anyone wanting to get away.

I've been to Banff, but getting there is a real PITA from Texas.
Rocky Mountain National Park is in Colorado, about an hour and a half away from Denver. I'll be staying on the western side of the park so I've got two lines of mountains between me and the nearest big city. The nearest McDonalds is 20 miles away if that gives you an indication of how isolated I will be.
Here is a picture of downtown Grand Lake. Big city, eh?
When I was younger I used to spend weeks at a time in the mountains. I haven't been back since I got married 11 years ago and neither my wife nor daughter have ever seen real mountains before. I am SO looking forward to this trip.Last edited by Completely Average; 01-11-2013 at 22:33.

Nice man! My mom has an obsession with the mountains so we went quite a bit to the mountains when i was young. It is an amazing thing to spot for the first time. The Rockies is my favorite place in the US. It is just an awesome place. I've been to Colorado four times and loved it. Twice for the X games in Aspen and twice on family vacations. I still want to go back. Have fun man, and thumbs up for bringing t the family to new places.

Btw, I know what you mean about the drive from Texas. Ours was from Louisiana. So damn long!

So, after 4 years of service, my 40GB FAT PS3 called it quits, taking one of my blu-ray discs with it! So just got back from the store and picked up the below items for £249.00...

My last gamepad broke so a new one to replace it. It's pretty basic but it does suffice. It's a must, really, if you're a platformer bug like me

Some Sennheisers... for running... and lifting. They sound amazing and don't fall off.

How well does it work and feel?
My wireless adapter for the Xbox controllers seems to be going out. It's been dropping the connection to the controllers lately, and I've been considering getting a wired gamepad to use as an alternative since MS doesn't produce the wireless adapter anymore.
Would like to know how it compares to the MS gamepad.

Got this recently to compliment the gray G-shock that I already own.

That logitech gamepad will also work on a PS3, good buy. I use a 2x converter for my PS2 controllers.

So far, love it. Only complaint is the memory size and price!.
For the price, just absolutely incredible. My mate has the beat headphones (got them for like over £130) and instantly i could tell they provide better sound quality and the design is awesome too ( for £29.99).
