What's wrong with the Air? It's the highest quality ultrabook available and the trackpad continues to go unrivaled. It's also the same price as other ultrabooks in the same spec range. It also has a higher resolution screen than the 13", allowing more screen real estate. The flash storage also makes it boot up in 7 seconds from a cold start.
I fail to see how owning one would dub someone a "Macfag".
You can also put Windows on it and make it a bad ass Windows ultra portable.
Again... I fail to see the issue... except that your friend fucked herself in the ass as the new MacBook Airs are coming out very very soon.
Edit: What does she want to do with it? To answer your question...

A company I recently ramped up with is giving away iPads as part of the product delivery model. The hardware cost is trivial vs. the improved UI/UX of a touch device. Cool stuff.

I am definitely surprised by the popularity of the 13 inch MBP compared to the rest of their lineup (including the Airs).

Yeah, I guess a lot of people use these as there one and only computer and I personally can't imagine not having a DVD drive on my one and only computer. I would have thought more of those people would want the 15 inch, but they may want a lighter, cheaper machine.

A $1799 starting price is too much for most people. Add in applecare and you easily surpass the $2k mark.
Plus there are occasional sales on the mbp 3 that put it around ~$999
Even then its still much higher than the average selling price:

Apple has a refurb section on their site and you can sometimes get a laptop for $800.00.

Hey guys, I need some assistance with my iMac '08. The machine still works quickly, and I rarely have any issues with it, but I've been noticing something lately, and another thing happened today that I thought I should ask about.
First, whenever I shut down my Mac and boot it back up, when the computer displays the desktop a folder in Finder automatically opens titled "Mac OS". Within the folder are things like "config", and other similar titles. It hasn't caused any problems, as I simply have to close the folder, but I've never been quite sure why it does it.
Now today, when I turned my computer on, I was greeted by what seemed to be a big terminal, where I could enter commands and the like. I'd never seen this screen before, and had absolutely no idea what to do, so I just turned the machine off and booted it back up, and it worked normally. I do, however, notice that there are two folders in my Trash Can now, titled "Recovered files" and "Recovered Files #1". After looking a bit deeper they seem to be nothing more than files that must have automatically been trashed after a MS Word error, so perhaps that's nothing.
I suppose I'm mainly concerned with the terminal screen I got this morning, and the mysterious folder that likes to pop up whenever I turn my computer on.SchaffinOSX

The recovered items in your trash usually happens during a bad shut down or crash of some sort (a bad shut down can be a forced shutdown). The weird boot up to a terminal environment was most likely either caused by that occurrence or you were accidentally pressing a key during boot up, which can accidentally make you go into Single User Mode, Safe Mode, etc.
What do the contents of the MacOS folder say?

Been doing a ton of brain storming, scoping, architecture, etc., on the iPad recently. It’s just _so_ convenient and it’s very “transparent” as a tool. The only thing I want to improve is being able to sketch with a little more control and detail ... so that being said, I ordered on of these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s00_i00
New[er] stylus design using a conductive mesh ball vs. a rubberized tip (which sound hit or miss and eventually get more miss than hit).

Comes in a few colors/finishes and a smaller model with a leash (connects to the earphone jack). It’ll be here tomorrow, I’ll do a little followup review, FWIW, my primary use will be with Notability.

I bought a new external hard drive and hooked it up to my iMac and downloaded this program. It is EXACTLY what I needed. It is still working on cloning the network attached USB drive, but once it is done, it will update with any new files on a weekly basis (although it will let you choose a shorter or longer time period if you desire). Thanks!
I had one of the first pens for my original iPad (I think it was called Pogo, Pongo, or something like that) and I could never get used to the crayon sized fuzzball that I was supposed to write with. I am looking forward to your review to see if the tech has gotten better.). It’ll be here tomorrow, I’ll do a little followup review, FWIW, my primary use will be with Notability.Last edited by uofmtiger; 05-07-2012 at 21:59.

Just pushed out our 3rd prototype release for our (company #3) iOS app (iPhone only initially). Pretty cool, got it talking to the backend, authenticating, caching some graphic assets, fun stuff!

Two day brainstorming, market analysis, architecture breakdown, platform definition ... so awesome, also the CEO asked about additional development tools, I said “a 27 TB/cinema display”, he said, of course, order what you need
