Howdy.

I just got an iPhone 5 yesterday (first one) and I have a n00b question.

How can I tell if someone in my contacts list has an iPhone too? I was texting one of my mates who I know has one too and he knew I had one. He said that messages he sends turn blue instead of green. For me, all my sent text messages are green. So is there a specific way/indication of how to tell if someone else has an iPhone?

If you recieve any messages in blue, it's an imessage. Your phone will know automatically

Have a feeling i got a dodgy iPhone 5 from Apple today. My last 5 picked up the Wifi in my house no problem. My one i got back from Apple today can barely connect and when it does it goes very slow. My iPad what is right next to it picks up full connection no problem.

Wifi is mediocre sometimes if you're covering up the top half of the phone lol. I know it's kinda weird for that to be happening but it's pretty normal.

Nope no covering from me, it's flat on my desk. Gonna do some more reading and find out the problem. Pretty sure my last iPhone 5 was fine. My iPhone 4 still works fine as does my iPad 3 as well as two iPod touches one from last gen and the most recent one.

There's one contact I have who I think may have an iPhone, but I don't know for certain - I haven't seen them in a while; but on Facebook updates it says "via iOS", so just on that I'm assuming they've got an iPhone. So if that is the case, messages still appear in green with them.

Sorry - me again

In the mail app (that comes as default) I only get recent e-mails appear and I can't check, say, e-mails from some months ago. Am I missing something here or is that all it can do?

I don't think this is an issue with the email app. Mine works fine with loading more messages. However, you may have something set up wrong. I would go to settings and the mail app and check your settings. I would also change the number of messages that automatically load. Maybe that will help?

Set it to show 1000 recent messages and it's still the same sadly.
What setting is it exactly that I need to alter?

It could be that there aren't any emails to load. I mean, if they were deleted from the server...

Also, which email are you checking? Yahoo, gmail, etc.?

Ah, just found the solution. The setting that I had to alter was "Mail days to sync", and set it to no limit.

Hi all just need your opinions, my sister wants to get a iMac but she can't decide between the new one and the one from 2011 ... she likes the look of the new one but it doesn't have a disc drive also does both models have wifi? which one is better in your opinion? and is it worth it to get the new one? also she never used OSX before just iOS devices cheerz
