Was interested in the Nexus 5, I hear some good things then some really bad things. The battery life is the only concern I have. I'm still thinking about picking up the 32gig white version, would be using the Nexus 5 as a replacement for an iPhone 5.

Mate got a nexus 5. Nice phone, lovely hardware, and the screen is very nice. Has some data issues and the camera is very average, but its great value for money...

I haven't posted in a while, not in this thread anyway...most folks I talked with on here know i got the PS4...but here's a new addition I just got two days ago.

My wife will be getting the HTC One or Nexus 5 today...not sure yet until I talk with her and let her know the HTC One isn't a tri-band phone, while the Nexus 5 is a tri-band phone. (Sprint).

Anyone pick up the Moto X? Both Android Central and ArsTechnia have named it the "best" phone right now. It seems that although the specs are below top of the line and the screen is 720p, they still call it the best overall phone.

I'm close to dumping my Galaxy S3 and picking one up.

To be fair, android central isn't a site to be taken seriously. Try it yourself...least you'd get a hands on and your impressions are ya own. Never buy a phone off the back of a review personally.

I have handled one at the Verizon store and really like it. I think the notifications are awesome and everything I have read said that the battery life is tremendous.

Not sure what you mean about Android Central. That is one of my main Android sites. I love it. Their articles are down to earth from an "average Joe" perspective. Unlike some of these larger commercial sites, AC is a breath of fresh air.

And why shouldn't AC be taken seriously? I mean, aside from XDA, the support you can get on AC is bar none. There are plenty of knowledgeable folks at AC and they are just as serious as any other android site, if not more so in the terms of support and custom ROM questions.

I agree, but different people like different sites. I have 5 main Android sites that I visit but AC is my goto site for news. They usually get it first and get it right.

think this thread is my home lol such an android fanatic.
I hear 4.4 is coming out soon - kitkat

my first android phone was the samsung galaxy captivate i897 (RIP) was rooted running cyanogen mod & miui. got it shipped in from the state. TRULY AMAZING PHONE (due to the rooting) but the exterior was seemless... elegant, sleek

had it for about 18 months. The software kept crashing got to the point i was factory resetting it every 10 days to keep it alive. I still have it and use as a media player since it has 16gb internal memory (and the memories we share). Sad it died though as would've loved to keep it for longer.

Since it was running miui it never had an app drawer like most (if not all) normal android phones so my main issue with getting the next phone was finding one with a decent UI. Having previously owned a HTC salsa i can say i do not care for the htc sense UI at all (although i heard the new one have a different/better UI?) - i tried out the htc on in the shop but i just didnt feel totally comfortable with the UI especially along with the heavy price tag. I have heard in the states there is a google version of the HTC one though that doesnt have the htc overlay?
So I shopped about & read and went for the Huawei Ascend p6.

had it about 6 months so far and love it. the UI is emotion 1.6 not sure if its based on miui but very similar and again no app drawer (dont compare this to apple!)

I currently also own a sony xperia SP (but need to get it network unlocked)

    and have also owned:
    LG optimus 2x
    Samsung galaxy s1 (i9000)
    LG optimus black

    - i never just owned one smartphone at a time :$ -_-

Has a ton of new pictures and a decently long video showing off the interface and functions and especially google maps. The lady talking describes it as 'DVD Quality' recording, and from the looks of it, it looks pretty damn close. I am pretty impressed.

The price is also $300 but it comes with a $100 mail-in-rebate. Not too bad, and it also comes with a 16gb Micro SD card pre-installed. That sounds like a damn good deal to me.

    The specs here:

    http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/US...ROID-US-EN.alt

    VIDEO CAPTURE RATE:
DVD quality (720x480 resolution) up to 24 fps capture; up to 30 fps playback.

    That's damn impressive imo.

Speaking of Droid, how does Android Kitkat stack up?

I am a BB Z10 user at present - but I recently read this: http://blog.teks.co.in/android-kitka...main-features/ ... and I am rather impressed!

Still got my HTC One. I MIGHT switch to the Padfone X since AT&T is picking it up. I say might only because Id really miss the superb speakers and ir blaster on the HTC. If I do switch tho I will mount the Padfone's tablet dock in my car

My Sprint Note 3 received the KitKat 4.4.2 update last night. Some nice added features, and the phone seems to run even faster now.

lol nah. I noticed the speed difference when unlocking the phone. Everything seems to scroll faster as well. And this was not something I was even look at. I was just going to settings to look at the added options, then noticed how much faster everything seemed to be.

I had to kick you a little. It should be a speed improvement right from the start. Hopefully, for you of course, that it continues to hold that increase, and not be bogged down.

512MB or less footprint for the OS.
You should get better multitasking. Apps/games, etc., should run better depending on the dependencies they hold. Definitely not a bad thing. The HTC One seems to benefit it all that much, but a slight improvement.

I will never go down in screen size. The S5 will be nice, but the Note 4 will be better. I will probably be a Note user for a very long time now. It is just the perfect phone.

Being 6'4", the Note 3 fits so perfectly in my hands.

The S-Pen is why I love this phone so much. I run a deck and porch business, and I am constantly needing to write up prints and lumber lists for jobs. Now I just use my phone to do all that. For me, this is the greatest phone ever.

I am also an artist, and I will draw pictures on my phone while waiting for oil changes and whatnot.
