Android Phone Thread

I have G1 on contract atm, it's up in September so I'm going to be wanting a new Android phone, the G1 is just too outdated now, it's big, impractical and lacks the tech specs alot of the newer phones have.

Anyone recommend any phones? The Xperia X10 looks really nice but do you think there selection of phones out in September will be dramatically different? I want something slim with a good camera and a preferably a keyboard but can sacrifice for a good touch screen.

T-mobile launched the HTC Desire, get that dude the Xperia's x10's going to be costly...

Also all android touch screen keyboards are pretty awesome and easy to use, but if your gunnah be home sick i suggest the LG intouch max.

I have the Hero, were waiting for the Desire, but think I'd rather wait for the Supersonic. Give the Supersonice Android 3.0

HTC are working on updating the hero with Sence UI for Android 2.1 Eclair... Problem is they got it on the Desire working fine due to its supercharged snapdragon processor but i think they having performance issues with the hero....

Thats my two cents, however im buying a nexus 1 off line from google

Oh well. My Hero is getting the official 2.1 April month... Was thinking of skipping the Desire for Supersonic/4g Evo. But then again it's too large, and long wait time. So the Desire is my phone this year.

I like the X10, but I am disappointed that SE has it running on 1.6 rather then 2.0 at the least. They have confirmed that it will update, but have not given a timeframe unfortunatley.

I wasn't very big on the N1 like so many people were. I personally refuse to buy a phone that uses a trackball. There is a reason why we no longer use the old trackball styled mouses on computers. Because they get dirty and stop working......

God AT&T ticks me off, but they have the best coverage and 3G speeds in my area. We got THIS ugly thing with a touchpad, behin the touchscreen......
Also stripped of google an replaced by Yahoo no-less. WTF uses yahoo?

Well I don't do reviews but I'll give my impressions, and I've used the iPhone before & have one at hand for a comparsion.

Awesome. There are two things I use the iPhone or app wise. Ping and iworkout, which is awesome. If there are two equivolent apps for the android I will probably swap.

There's only one word I can say: Amazing.

Of course I'll say more than just one word. The thing I have to say I like the most about the Android system is the simplicity, but at the same time, the effectiveness. It's by far the best phone I've owned yet, though I can't say I've "been around the block" when it comes to cell phones.

I have my G1 until September It's outdated and bulky now, doesn't have enough memory built in so it can't actually utilize the latest firmware!

Yup, that's the phone I got.
I went from an HTC Dream (G1) to currently having an HTC Magic (aka My Touch 3G) both from Rogers so both compatible with AT&T 3G.

Both gifts from my girl. I didn't want to buy either of them tho. While I love the phones, I hate that they use trackballs. That's why I want the desire Sooooo much.

I just bought the Motorola Droid to replace my Blackberry Storm. Loved my BB but this Droid is by far the best phone I have ever seen. Its lighting fast and smooth as can be. I will be an Android support for a long time after this phone

Ping......nope nothing I can think of, thou as it does require the internet any IM app does without limiting it to just apple users, workout apps there are a few of those.

So you say it's a good phone then?

Have decided that I am going to sell my iPhone and grab either the Nexus One or the X10.

So far am leaning towards the Nexus One simply because SE track record of upgrades with OS is rubbish. Plus all the rooting that can be done with custom ROMs as well.

I really want the X10 but since I can't renew my contract with another provider until October, I'm sure there will be better phones out by then. Just going to have to sit tight and wait until October before I can start picking

What network are you on? I am on Three, but my contract is up in October, however I can upgrade on the 10th August over the phone and not instore.
