decent thanks for the replies guys. I might upgrade to it tomorrow (in white). Am an O2 loyalty customer so i get 30% discount on my contract. Hopefully the 30% is also included in the handset price too lol.

nice one. How much will you be paying for the handset? Would be great if they knocked off 30% on that also

Is the Galaxy Nexus not an option for O2? I would rather get that personally. And going from an iPhone to an Android phone I would recommend Vanilla Android too so.. (android with no manufacturer modifications straight from google)
I just love getting OTA updates straight from google and always will. Yes I know you can get stock android on non-nexus phones if you go out and seek it (I am very informed about software/programming and just consumer electronics) but I really just go for stock android nexus phones always.

well im thinking of the 300 minutes unlimited text option which brings the handset out at £79.99.....not sure though. I will see how good the salesman is.
im excited as it will be my first android phone, would be different story if Apple had redesigned the iPhone though...love the big screens!
yea it is an option, just had a look, its more expensive than the S2, for some reason i prefer the S2's design, think it might be because it looks similar to an iPhone lol. Am going to go to O2 tomorrow and see the things first hand, as my opinion could well change!Wii # 8752-0092-2306-9612PSN ID : pez555

They didnt have nexus when I was lookin' for a upgrade last week >:/ or atleast, it must not have been in stock - got a super deal on the s2 however so I dont feel too bad for missing out on a nexus, which would have been super expensive in comparison
So I guess my phone isn't vanilla android as it's manufactured by samsung and has things such as kies air and stuff already on the phone, uneditable? Also, what do you mean by OTA updates?
Yeah, I just love the big screen - the phone is so comfortable too for something that isn't exactly compact, it's also very light.
£79.99 ain't too bad, hopefully they knock some more off for being a loyal customer, though most places are getting quite strict on that kind of stuff nowadays. From the stories I hear, anywayLast edited by Nitey; 12-12-2011 at 23:09.

Over the Air updates straight from google.. no needing to wait for Samsung to update (Most of the time they don't support a handset for long) or the carrier. Like my Nexus S from last year is getting the ICS update straight from google. I mean I like to have the android experience that google designed.. not some horrible overlay Samsung puts on top of Android 2.3. Yes I know you can go to various places and put ICS on your phone after rooting it but I only buy into the Nexus branded phones really.
Should be really good now since Motorola was bought by Google.. so the next Nexus phone will be even more designed with what Google wants from a hardware perspective to complement their future plans.
That's why I still have my Nexus S.. pretty sure the next Nexus phone in about 1-1.5 years will be amazing and in line with what Google has planned perfectly.

Ahhh I see, thanks for the information! I will consider a Nexus then, definitely, when I'm due for an upgrade (in 15 months
)
I'm really loving Android so far

Pretty decent deal there and the phone is free - not that many minutes and stuff, however you can maybe use it to barter a deal with them instore. Limited time offer though

thanks for the input guys appreciate it.
went to the shop today, decided not to upgrade as it would mean losing the ability to use data on my iphone (which i still want as my primary phone). Problem was that because my current contract is iPhone specific, O2 cant offer me an upgrade where i can still use data on my iPhone, bit sucky but oh well. What i did do in the end though was move down to a simplicity rolling contract and i managed to nab 30% off that so not too bad really.
i do have a 16gb iPhone 4 to sell so i could use the money from that to buy the galaxy S2 on pay as you go.....does anyone know if the data will still work on it though? i like the idea of flipping between my iPhone and galaxy S2 depending on my mood...Wii # 8752-0092-2306-9612PSN ID : pez555

Anybody mess around with ICS yet? I'm absolutely loving it from the way it looks to the way it behaves. It's also excellent on my battery life as well. And it's just so damn smooth!

I would like to try it but I dunno when it's out for the Galaxy s2 o_O Can't be assed to root. From what I've seen though, it looks great

It'll probably be damn good on the GS2. I'm running it on my Droid X right now. It's still missing a few futures that keep it from becoming a full ROM like the camera, GTalk is broken, stock music app, and a few others. But it's only a matter of time till those get fixed. I really like the way Google built ICS though, its just so convenient having all of your settings at the top of the pulldown bar.

The Samsung phone with the 4.3in Super AMOLED Plus screen for AT&T is a nice phone.
Anyone know if Swype is owned by and/or exclusively contracted to Google?私は日本語がわかります。図書館で読みます。ビール飲みます。

I think swype is just a third party keyboard

Yeah it's a third party thing. You can sign up for it at right here: http://www.swype.com/category/get-swype/
It's pretty sweet. Love it for one handed texting, which is mostly what I do.I once ate a dirty sock...don't tell anyone.

I gave swype a go and I love it. It's really easy to use. What a great app.

Is that the one where you run your finger over the keyboard to form a word? I could never get used to it, or maybe I was doing it wrong

Yeah it is, it's easy once you get used to it.
-

Yeah it takes a bit to get used to once you switch from a regular keyboard. The only major drawback I find from swype is typos are entire words instead of having a wrong letter here or there.

I went from Swype to Thumb keyboard to SwiftKey X.
the prediction engine on SwiftKey is amazing. after you use it awhile it pretty much writes itself.
my dream keyboard would be: layout and customization of Thumb Keyboard with Swiftkey X's prediction engine.
man... that would be one hell of a keyboard.
but since it don't exist, I switch back and forth between the two.
Swype got pretty much kicked to the curb.

Hmm, I may give Swype a go just out of curiousity, again. However I'm using swiftkeyx at the moment and its pretty damn good at predicting, like you say Mainspring. I find myself typing almost as quickly as I used to on my blackberry bold, which was really fast. I rarely have to go back and correct a word using swiftkeyx
