man do i love android, i got the 8gb samsung galaxy s player 4.0 (running gingerbread but ill root it when that becomes available). i was thinking of getting something simple for work since my phone batteries drain while listening to music. instead of going with an 8gb ipod touch i went with the galaxy because of the expandable memory. i bought a 32gb micro sd from buy.com for $19 (using super point), went into the app store and got the go launcher EX. the hardware is pretty good for 179 dollars
played around with the thing for about 5 hours before adding any music lol

bought a samsung galaxy s2 the other day, been using it for a few days and i have to say i am very impressed.
There are a lot of aspects which are similar to iOS which is a bonus for me. Its a very slick phone and im glad i bought it. Love the large vibrant screen and you can tell how much better the colours are than the retina display. If this had the screen of the nexus it would be an absolute beast.Wii # 8752-0092-2306-9612PSN ID : pez555

I'm kinda pissed off that Samsung won't release ICS for the Galaxy S Plus.
I bought the phone 4 month ago ffs
I don't want to install a custom firmware (warranty issues) and afaik even if i wanted to - there is no cyanogen mod for SGS+ (i9001).
Should have gone "all out" and buy the SGS2 instead...grrrrrrr

I think Samsung are actually considering putting ICS on the Original Galaxy S.

after alot of protest, samsung did say they were considering a 'value pack' for the original sgs. makes you think tho doesn't it. If the guys at xda can put out a ics rom why can't samsung?

Samsung can do it, it's whether they see it as financially viable, since they pay their programmers, they have to work it if it's worth it to update the phone. If enough people complain then they will do it since they don't the the bad rep and lose customers to other Android manufacturers or worse, Apple.

I ordered a 16gb MicroSD from play.com and it hasn't come yet, it's been almost a week :[
Congrats man! I love it too, agreed about the screen; it's amazing. I'm thinking of taking off my screen protector, but I'm afraid the screen would be too vulnerabe

I've been getting to grips with Android stuff lately, and has anyone seen the leaked official ICS for S2 from a few days ago? I can't believe Samsung are keeping the touchwizz launcher on top of the default 4.0 launcher. Maybe they will change it? Who knows. I don't mind TW but damn, the default 4.0 is sexy as hell
I hope it's out sooner rather than later. Might give Cyanogen 9 a go if they take too long

I was thinking about what I'll get for my next phone earlier today. I've still got a lot of time left with my iPhone 4, but nevertheless, it's nice to fantasize and consider what I'll be purchasing a year or so from now. I'm debating whether or not to veer away from Apple or not. I love the iPhone, but there are a lot of things I simply find to be missing from it. Plus, the silent / vibrate / sound options on it operate oddly, and are much more inconvenient (imo) than with Android phones.
Going to be a tough call next March. Guess I'll have to see what's available when the time comes. What does Android really have going for it right now?SchaffinOSX

anyone know how to increase the quality of the mic on the S2? i mean, it is absolutely shocking for a smartphone, especially when sending audio notes over whatsapp.

audio is/was a problem on the s2 and it starts with the sound chip. the original gs1 had a wolfson sound chip and was excellent. the gs2 uses a yamaha sound chip which just isn't as good. however, with power amp and voodoo LOUDER the sound is much improved. i'm very happy with it.

OK so I made a decent choice and went for the android in my sig after using the iPhone 4 for a good few months I must say its took some getting used too but its an epic piece of kit glad I made the switch ics has some great features (last android was an x10i) the screen on this is the best on any mobile device by far and would recommend to anyone that can handle a large handset.
