The infinity symbol on its own cannot be trademarked. The use of it within a logo can be. It's got nothing to do with patents.

Yea they say its the name of the online service for sony.. Been trying to figure out what it could be P oo S it almost seems like playstation infinity which would be a cool name for the online service but who knows... i LOVE the infinity sign though.

It was trademarked as something that has to do with the PS Controller so i doubt it has something to do with the Online system.

And it was trademarked in japan,we don't know if the name will be used at all, or only in japan and not in the western world.

I was sure that this would happen because many people can't read.

It's not POOS, it's "P oo S". Theres a huge chance that only the P and the S will be letters.

Companies trademark everything they think of, this might just never be used, for example sega trademarked tons of game names during the dreamcast days, and most of them where never released or even developed, same thing happening today, namco has allready trademarked every possible "Tales of ..." name, during the last couple years.

That's what I'm saying, it makes much more sense to be a logo for their online network. I wouldn't think of it as a name, but the symbol itself is a good representation of an online network
