Okay so hopefully for Christmas I shall be proudly building my own PC.
I am at a slight loss, I'm out of touch with some of the PC games on the market.
What are some good titles to be playing?

I like shooters mainly but I do like some RPG's, The Sims sounds very interesting as well.
I am quite a gamer so I like anything really but not sports games.
Thanks for your input.

Have fun building your machine first off, one of the most rewarding things you can do. As for games...
Orange Box (best value of any game easily)
L4D2 is great ESPECIALLY if you haven't played the first
Fallout 3 is a classic
The Witcher (my all time favorite RPG)
Dragon Age is great
Mass Effect is a great RPG (only $10 on steam..amazing deal)
That should keep you busy, but ya give us some ideas of what genre's your into to really give you a good idea of what to get.

Orange Box, definitely. Great value, great games. TF2 is so damn addicting

L4D2 is a good one also, but play the demo first. Might not suit your play style.
For RPGs, go after Dragon Age, and Mass Effect. Not an RPG fan myself, but I always hear they are excellent. Borderlands is another good one in my opinion.I once ate a dirty sock...don't tell anyone.
World domination has taken a momentary setback...talk amongst yourselves in the meantime.UK>America. its just true

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition
Mass Effect
Dragon Age: Origins
Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
The Orange Box
Left 4 Dead (and most likely Left 4 Dead 2)
Braid
Trine
BioShock
I also still love the classics you can pick up on Steam:
Max Payne
Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne
The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

If you dont have a gaming console, then I'd recommend COD:MW2 for the pc as well. The steam interaction is a plus, although no dedicated servers stinks.

This is as good a place to post as any. Amazon are currently doing Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition for a low £13.99.
