Hey guys, I was thinking this over while looking at Killzone the other day. Who do you think was, and is going to be more sucessful in making great games? PS3 & Guerilla or Microsoft&Bungie. I saw the interview with Sony Vice President about Killzone 2 and he said twice the demo WAS real gameplay with some effects. But will Bungie surprise us with Halo 3 when the PS3 debuts? Think about it.

Without a doubt MS and Bungie will be more successful for the simple reason of fan support. I hate Halo to death, but I can't deny that it has a huge following.
You don't need a great game for success, and honestly, I'm not sure if either game will be great. To me, killzone was built around the linear/scripted single player experience, and the Halo series was built around multiplayer environment.
Neither game was at the top of it's class, and I know for a fact that graphics can't cover up problems with gameplay mechanics.

I agree mostly. But I believe given the chance, Guerilla, could make a very good FPS with KZ. I think many say they suck at making games, but I think with a powerful system like the PS3, they could very well do it. Halo is very overrated, yes its a good solid game, but its hugley over rated, and its what made the Xbox. Good and bad.

Yeah, as I've been playing through Killzone again recently, I ask myself how much of the games downfall was due to technical limitation as opposed to lack of skill from the developers/time constraints.

Is it fair to pair Sony with Guerilla? The first Killzone was suppose to be a heavy contender with Halo and look how that turned out. Dont get me wrong I already have a piggy bank with the letters 'KZ' on the side but the KZ footage we saw may very well be fake, and if Guerilla cannot live up to the look of that video AND deliver mediocre gameplay again then we will see history repeated. Dont consider Guerilla to be SUCH a heavy hitter just yet, just pray that they will be. Ive had my heart broken before so Im waiting for more info on the new Killzone before I start pitting it against Halo.
KHgamer17 is also my XBox Live handle. Please dont hate me, I only play Halo 2..... guess that doesnt help huh? Im a hardcore Sony-er, try not to go too fanboy, Ill accept all facts, but Sony is my Homeboy, but I do play Halo 2. Hit me up if you do too.

I just wanted to add that The Killzone 2 demo trailer was what the graphics ARE going to look like.I have read probably 20 different articles about this. It wasn't someone sitting down w/ a controller playing that, but it was graphics that you'll see on the PS3. If so, you can kiss Microsoft&bungie goodbye.

CGI is gameplay. CGI is real-time. CGI is pre-rendered. CGI can be anything. What you're trying to say is "pre-rendered" CGI. Real-time and pre-rendered are also not the same thing. Doesn't matter if it was recorded real-time or recorded pre-rendered...it was all done to spec. We really don't know what the final game will look like. The Killzone trailer is nothing more than Guerilla's vision for what they hope to achieve with the final game on PS3...just like EA's first Madden video.

This... is my BOOMSTICK!

06-09-2005 #8Exactly, and thats why theres so much debate. People want to know if that is what they will be playing, and although I have heard the exact words that "Yes that is gameplay" and "yes that is what you will be expiriencing when you are playing" and so-forth, its just so very hard to believe. I really cannot wait until this whole thing is settled, though.

Sony and Guerilla vs. Microsoft and Bungie?
Hmm, kinda balenced out. Sony is good and more experienced at what they're doing and Bungie is good and experienced at what they're doing also. But, in my opinion, Bungie's kinda losing it. Just look at Halo 2."This life is not real. I conquered the world and it did not bring me satisfaction." -Muhammad Ali

Man, from all this mish mash of words about a trailer. Give it a rest please. I know I'm excited about Killzone for PS3 but not only because of the trailer itself but what I saw in the original game. It had bugs and texture issues, was mediocre or whatever else you wanna call it. The thing is, the theme of a war torn city was approached in such a high manner that the hardware wasn't able to squeeze it out.
This may sound as a repetition of words if you've been reading through these forums often but to those who haven't played Killzone yet. Guys, it was a very beautiful game in a sense that every locale and area I encountered while playing this game was never been done in another game like this. And I seriously mean never! The sheer scope of ideas Guerilla had compared to Bungie is mind boggling.
Suffice it to say, the 2nd coming of Killzone will not be any lesser than the talent they possess, given the hardware this time around is powerful enough. Same with Bungie, they got a good piece of hardware to play with and without a doubt they'll make lots of multiplayer gamers happy with Halo3.

Good point there, Damnit. I seriously don't see what Killzone and Halo have in common besides their genre, but gamers and reviewers across the net seemingly have to reduce both games to the lowest common denominator in order to make comparisons. Thus, Killzone was labelled "Halo-killer" when in reality Guerilla and Bungie were aiming at completely different experiences.
May you go aground on your way and found a kingdom on a foreign shore.

halo will make its third appearence and killzone its second..that would count for the final quality..on the other hand, killzone was a great game and i read an article that said that 2guys from bungie jumped aboard ps3 so maybe that could help..because bungie knows what theyre doing..despite my favouirte fps is half life 2..in the end gerrilla will do very well

Your thoughts are much appreciated but do they also expand to the way you look at consoles?

again, the number doesn't count

I was only saying that as a joke really. My point was actually the same as yours though but with a different way. Numbers don't matter if the game doesn't live up to it. Either it turns out the title is called Halo3 or Killzone2 or whatever else. Yes, same for consoles.

[LIVE] Singstar to include 30 tracks preloaded on the disc.
Today Sony announced that Singstar for the PlayStation 3 will come with 30 tracks preloaded on the disc.
It is also said that all of those 30 tracks will include an HD video, we wouldn't be surprised if this happens after all HD will be the new standard for TVs.
If this isn't enough for you, Sony will give you to possibility to download new tracks from a selection of about 3000 tracks.
The price of each downloadable track is yet to be announced.
Singstar will be released in Europe in June this year, the release in USA will follow later this year.
Keep checking PSU.com for the latest news on Singstar.

This thread is comical & sadly mis-informed. First of all Microsoft just sold Bungie & the only concievable reason to do that is because Bungie wants to go multi-plat & microsoft isn't willing to pay to keep them.
Secondly Guerilla is hardly the only 1st Party or 2nd Party in the Sony camp.
Try Sony+Naughty Dog+Insomniac+Polyphony+Ninja Theory+Sucker Punch+Sony Santa Monica (God of War)+Team ICO+ + + + + + + (the list goes on)
In the Microsoft camp we had Bungie, Bioware & Pandemic but oops, the latter 2 were just acquired by EA=Multiplat.
Ubisofts Splinter Cell team seem to be partial to the Xbox as does Team Ninja from Tecmo but those are the only 2 stand outs for me.
So yes, limit the conversation to Guerilla and you get a nice, comfortable, false comparison.
