From what I've heard from others, having never actually played them, God of War I and II might well deserve to be on this list.

But I'll be voting for Uncharted 2 obviously.

Little Big Planet - Changed the way we see gaming and created a whole new genre.

MGS4 - One of the best games ever made and story telling is in a league of its own.

God of War Series - Started a league of its own in hack and slash action adventure with its epic story and gorily satisfying gameplay.

GTA: SA - One of the best fun in a game i have ever had, tons of exploring and weapons, story is quite well told as well.

Medal of Honour: Allied Assault - First FPS i have played and i will always remember the normandy beach landings + one of best FPS's.

Uncharted Series - Most Cinematic Hollywood story telling TPS ever.

Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted 2 and Final Fantasy X. That's all i got.

I can't honestly think of any games that deserve to be placed ahead of those 3 masterpieces and i've played a ton of great games this decade. It just really speaks volumes to how well these games impacted this decade.

DISCLAIMER: These are chosen only from the games I have personally experienced (beyond a demo). I know K2 and U2 are not here. I have unfortunately not played either. Yes, sad for me I know but that's why my list is like it is.

Oblivion (plus Expansions)
FFX (second only to VII in terms of story)
Half-Life 2 (plus the Episodes)
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum (so many cute little monsters to catch!)
CoD: MW1 (Fantastic shooter)
WoW (Just due to the extensive obsessed fan-base)
FFXI (WoW for real gamers )
GoW:I and II (talk about epic)
Kingdom Hearts 1 (2 is good but I felt more for the characters in 1)
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (I still play this even though I've also got BlazBlue)
Halo 2
Shenmue (hey, it was released in 2000 in America )
LittleBigPlanet (create share play)

Man, I think I could keep going. Are you sure we can't have this competition break down into categories (RPG, fighting, etc.) first and then vote on the best of the best from that list?

gta san andreas - it needs no description simply the best game ever

fallout 3 - gaming should be about freedom to do what you want and not be constrained by the game itself. fallout 3 makes it feel like you are creating the story step by step and gives you the ability to do whatever you want, whenever you want

test drive unlimited - taking a genre and looked upon it from a different perspective and succeeded on every level. why there hasnt been a follow up to this game ive no idea.

gran turismo 4 (series in general) - when developers thought it was fine to release car games with 20 cars and a handful of tracks polyphony came along and rewrote the book on racers, with 100's of cars and a mass array of tracks it paved the way for console racing

Final Fantasy IX (PS1 - released in 2000 in the UK if I recall correctly?)
Resident Evil Remake (Gamecube)
Resident Evil 4 (PS2)
Metal Gear Solid 2 (PS2)
Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3)
Legacy of Kain: Defiance (PS2 - mainly for the fact that this is like the culminating game of the series for me, the 'coming together')
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3/360)
Halo (Xbox - I don't even have an Xbox anymore, but I can't deny the influence of this game! Biiiiiiiig stuff)
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2 - probably quite literally the greatest game ever)
Tekken Tag Tournament (PS2 - my favourite of the series, like an awesome greatest hits)
Fallout 3 (PS3)
Timesplitters 2/Future Perfect (PS2 - Spent an unbelievable amount of time playing this with friends, one of the most fun multiplayers ever)
Marvel vs Capcom 2 (ARC/Dreamcast)
Sonic Adventure (DC - was this in the 2000s? I think it was...)
