Mass Effect 2 Spans Two Discs, Requires Effort
'You cannot fit this much awesome on one disc,' says BioWare
by Jim Reilly
US, December 4, 2009 - Just how big is Mass Effect 2? If the number of discs the game ships on is any indication, players should prepare for an even longer campaign.
BioWare Community Manager Chris Priestly states on the official forums Mass Effect 2 will be split onto two separate discs for both PC and Xbox 360. The PC will not require any disc swap since the game will need to be fully installed. Xbox 360 owners, however, will need to perform one required swap.
"Even though there is a disc swap, it occurs at a carefully planned place in the game (that does not interfere with gameplay) and is done once," Priestly said. "You do not swap back and forth. One swap and then done."
The Collectors' Edition of the game has a third disc, which contains 'making-of' sections and other bonus information.

****, the Collector's Edition feels so tempting, but I'll hardly have the extra cash needed for it with all the other great games being released at the same time.

12-04-2009 #4Well you could....'You cannot fit this much awesome on one disc,' says BioWareNot sure how but assuming they are right thats definetly the smart thing to do, lot of devs seem to skip here when disc swaps were required more regularly"Even though there is a disc swap, it occurs at a carefully planned place in the game (that does not interfere with gameplay)"Everything that has ever happened has been leading up to this very moment"
"What happened to bros before hoes?" "Well, this one isn't a hoe, so she's first."

If I was getting this for the 360 that would be the BIGGEST lie I ever saw, one disc swap? How are you meant to replay it 5 times one after the other without putting Disc 1 back in
if I am in the PS3 or 360 section I will NOT post about the competitor just to please people, if you want to know what I think about the competitor link me to a thread in the appropriate section

I hate the way they try to sell disc swaps: "Does not interfere with gameplay".
Yeah, it does. Let's not sugarcoat it. A disc swap isn't ideal, I'd rather have two discs than half the experience anyday but let's not pretend it isn't an annoyance.
Oh, and why do people have to jump on the BluRay bandwagon every time something like this is announced? PS3 and / or BluRay has absolutely nothing to do with this story.

Bingo .I dont know why ppl keep complaining about Disk swapping. when MGS or FFFVII/FFVIII came on multiple disks did anyone complain No cause they ended up being amazing games and ive heard nothing but great things about Mass effect so this too should fall into the *Its a great game who gives a **** how many disks it is* catergory

I think you may be mistaken by disc swapping. Least maybe I am thinking of it diff. When people complain its more about lets say Star Ocean type disc swapping. Where you got to last disc. Then ready to go explore and literaly every old world you went to required you to switch to another disc. It got seriously annoying. Going to planet x to kill x mob for something. Then going to another planet and having to switch to another disc. Not like say FF 7 or Lost odyssey where yeh games where multi disc, but if you wanetd to exploer on disc 4 you wouldnt have top keep poping in and out the other discs.

I never could get into the first, between the unstable framerate and chore of the fighting mechanics, it just bored me. Hopefully the sequel is more revised, I have faith in BioWare.
Also, I like the fact it's on two disks, it only means more content for the players. Everyone should be happy about this.
