    SCE Promotes Hirai, Reeves

Sony Computer Entertainment today announced the promotions of Kazuo "Kaz" Hirai and David Reeves. In addition to their current roles as presidents and CEOs of Sony Computer Entertainment America and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe respectively, they have been named executive vice presidents of their Tokyo-based parent company's corporate executive group. Hence the two men will not only be responsible for overseeing the launch of PlayStation 3 in North America and Europe, but also become deeply involved in Sony Computer Entertainment's overall business strategy planning.

Sounds like mostly just an additional title. I guess we'll see in another year if they deserve a promotion or a kick to the curb.

Well, no one can deny that Hirai and Reeves aren't enthusiastic enough for the job.

I don't know much about Reeves, but I know Hirai is really good at his jobs. His presentations are always good and mature! I really like his style of saying things at press conferences.

It also means that Reeves is in a good position to boost Europe's shipment quantity - even if Hirai is on the same level, at least Europe has a top representative involved in business planning.

Kaz has done a good job at keeping the masses enthusiastic about the PS brand and I can see why he was promoted. His latest interview is direct and to the point, when it comes to the PS3. I'm glad to see he is being recognized for his loyalty to Sony.

It's all a PR game. Sony has to look confident for investors, but the tough-guy talk puts off gamers. Poor Sony, they can't do anything without getting harsh criticism.

Ah well, they sure know how to make kick-arse systems!

I seem to recall you saying that Kaz was an idiot and would get "eaten alive" in your business...
