What do you use your PS3 for?

    I was curious...

Tried to make the poll as comprehensive as possible but didn't want it to have too many options so I didn't include pictures/photos in the poll (although I do use my PS3 to store and view photos). If there is some combination I missed just pick one that is the closest - I'm sure these options just about cover everyone though.

gaming only, have a media pc that handles everything else. think you should have added folding to your poll as a lot of people use their ps3 for that

Yeah but folding isn't something that you ACTIVELY do with the PS3, it's something you let the PS3 do while you aren't using it. I didn't want to add that to this list and make it that much longer (I would have had to add another 4 options into the poll for that). I would have put picture/photo storing and viewing into the poll before I put folding@home.

Keep these kinds of comments to yourself. Unless a poll very similar to this has been posted within the last 6 months (which I seriously doubt seeing as how I come on here every day) than this is a good poll to do now. A lot of people have bought PS3s in the last few months. If a poll like this has been done RECENTLY than lets see it...

the thread title is what do you use for ps3 for, you can use your ps3 for folding. if your gonna ask the question then have every available answer. i thought you could allow for multiple selections on poll son this forum anyhow or am i thinking of a different forum?

Yeah you can allow multiple selections but I didn't want to do it that way - think about it for a minute - doing it like that changes the results of the poll. By listing each thing (gaming, blu-ray, linux, etc, etc) and allowing everyone to make multiple selections it doesn't tell you what each INDIVIDUAL person is doing with their PS3 - this is the way I wanted it, it's my poll. If you want to do a poll with multiple choices like that than do one, it's not a bad idea.

thats exactly what having a multiple choice would do. if you do it your way where 1 option would be games + play tv + dvd's + blu ray + pics + folding then you would have 1 vote. if you had them all as seperate selections but as multiple choice then youd have 1 vote on each which would be exactly the same but 1 hell of a lot easier. although i am intrested in the outcome i dont intend on making another topic im just saying you didnt really think the poll through, would be alot easier to gauge results from if it was multiple choice

NO, a poll like that would give DIFFERENT results than this poll. You can't see WHO voted for what in the results, you only see numbers. If everyone was allowed to vote for multiple things you would have NO IDEA what each person is doing with his PS3. At the end of that poll you would only know that x amount of people use their PS3 for playing games, y amount of people use it for blu-ray, z amount of people use it for music, etc, etc. This is not the result I was looking for. YOU need to think about this for a little while - I already have - I considered doing the multiple choice while I was starting the poll and decided it wasn't what I wanted.

a poll that yields figures as a result, jeez that is silly so you ask what people use their ps3 for but dont allow them a full choice or a poll that makes any relevant sense to the question in hand. have fun with that

I've now tried several times to explain what I was trying to do and clearly you are either too ignorant to understand or just don't give a ****. Either way I really don't care - it's MY poll, I thought it out before posting it, and it's EXACTLY the way I want it. If you don't like it start your own poll, like I've already said.

I used to just use it for gaming, but since I got my HDTV today I figured I might as well make it my "it only does everything" machine.

The back of the TV only has one composite input, one component and one HDMI so I have 360 on composite since I don't play it much, Wii on component and PS3 on HDMI and I'll be using it for DVDs and Blu-ray movies from now on to get the best picture. Just gotta get myself a PS3 blu-ray remote and I'm good to go.
