Would you like to pay a subscription for PSN?

Okay so we basically know that there will eventually be a subscription fee for PSN.

The question is would people like to pay for a subscription to access the PSN.

I would be in all favour of a subscription to PSN as long as it can promise less lag, and better service. To be fair I would not like to pay a monthly subscription but a cheaper yearly subscription say 40-60.

What do all the rest of you gamers think?

tbh if you mean eventually having to play online on the PS3, then yes i would.

No matter how much i or anyone complains that it used to be free, i would still end up getting it anyway, so the way i see it is that if it happens, why complain? cause ill end up paying for it anyhow

I know we all we know will eventually have to pay.

I'm asking you if you would like to pay for it and if you think it is going to good use.

yeah, what i mean is would i want to pay for it? Ideally, no. I would prefer to have it free

But if it comes to that point would i choose to pay? Yes i would pay anyway.

As far as the matter of it going to good use; of course if it is going to further improvement of the PS3 then i would like to know what our money would contribute to. But if it goes to the betterment of the PS3 or PSN then yeah i would be happy with it.

We can't really answer this question yet. The simple answer (for the services provided right now) is no. It also depends on what they add too. I mean if they charged $10 a year for what they have now..sure. i'd be down for that. But any more and they're gonna have to add some wanted features like Xgame chat, more dedicated servers, WAAYYY better updates. Stuff like that...it's really to hard to say if I'd pay for something that I don't know what it will include.

I think it would be fair for Sony to ask us to pay for an improved service and if it is better I don't mind paying for it.

I am not sure it will provide us with a lag free experience in all games, cod for example uses peer to peer networking so it wouldn't make any difference to that at all.

Having read the survey that Sony put out a while ago to some users (it's in another thread somewhere) I am a little pis*** that Sony wants X-Game chat to be part of the subscription, this is something that ps3 users have been wanting for over 3 years now. The 'it's technically challenging' bull**** coming from Sony I think is more of a smoke screen for subscription based extras of which it is apparently going to be part of.

I will have to wait and see what the benefits are for real before I decide to subscribe but it does look promising from looking at the survey.

New item on psu.com relating to PSN Fee's by the way, who knows wtf is going to happen, your guess is as good as mine.

    Exactly what i was thinking.

The service we are getting now i wouldn't pay for it.

I would only pay if service was improved big time.

seriously, when will you guys realize that you'll ALWAYS FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER be able to play online for free. There will ONLY be a fee for A PREMIUM service...

that's also probably the worst reason ever to get rid of your ps3...what are you gonna do go get a 360? lol

but that's the whole point..if you don't wanna pay for PSN you don't have to. If you're happy with PSN the way it is now (being able to play online for free, but other than that it's pretty bare bones) then you won't have to pay a cent. Sony keeps insisting that they won't charge to play online.

If that does happen then I think we'll all be pissed lol. They almost have to do a premium service though I think. I mean how could they just one day be like "oh you got on to play, sorry you have to pay now". I don't think that would work. It might happen for the PS4, but I highly doubt it for the PS3.

    Never say never.

I would be interested to see what sony would bring, if they did offer a (optional) premium service.

I cant wait for that statement to be wrong and believe me..Sony will charge before you know it. Its the smart business thing to do despite all the crying little kids.
They will start w/ a premium only service but then change over to everyone will need to sign up.

If they improve a few things..I'll gladly pay. I dont see anything wrong w/ that.

If the current features of PSN get a price tag, I will not pay a dime. If extra features come into existence, and they cost a reasonable price, maybe to most likely.

okay i would understand paying of the extra service like x-game, blah blah. but i would like only thing not to be charged for is the "play free online" they have now. people should be able to play online for free if they feel like they dont need those extras service.
