Im not a fan of those weapons, overall I am not a fan of the asian weapons. The crusaders longswords were the shit. To be honest I also dont understand all the romanticism over the katans. Maybe people just like their look...

Lots of anime making the swords look cool and Highlander, in my opinion.

The samurai were near perfect soldiers and the Japanese art of the sword is a highly refined and deadly art. The katana is simply a far superior weapon to any of the european swords, was sharper and usually stronger. It is also way more beautiful and elegant...there is no contest.

not the most scientific video ever but i saw this months ago and figured it would fit here

the swords effectiveness aside, the katana is quite the sexy looking sword. not banana looking like the Arabs swords, and not straight and rigid like the European longswords.
