06-14-2005 #29I'm not so sure about that. Were you having fun playing the modded games? or sad and not happy that you had tons of games free? People tend to not play the pirated games as much is the one's they bought.i've once owned a modded ps2 and i can say it isn't worth it!!

@ maranhao: Can you please type your posts out in normal sentences, instead of being similar to Haiku poetry? It makes things easier to read. Thanks.

Why is everyone assumes that the lack of BR burners will reduce the ps3 piracy? IMO it will not affect it at all, the first ps2 copies were on cd not DVD, because the first games were shiped on cd instead of dvd, and in some cases even if a game was coming on dvd, the actual size of the game was not above 700mb, even with pure dvd games like devil may cry, copies was still available on multiple cd's (3 in the case of DMC)

I should try that too? I have been doing that for a long time and i bought around 7 PS2 games and only 3 of them has been competed. I still think it doesn't make a difference since if you burn a game every day then yes you will not compete any so to solve the problem don't burn anymore games til you beaten the last one.

that argument is pure bs tho. with places like gamestop, ebgames, and even ebay, games are cheaper now than ever. i remember buying street fighter 2 for the like $70 when i was younger. it was the only game i got in a while and i loved it. like i said, piracy hurts the gamers in the end. i'll use the same example i used earlier: no metal gear, no zelda, no mario bros, no gta, no ff7. all of our favorite games came out because the sony's, squares's and nintendo's wanted to make money. and if they don't make money, because everyone is pirating them, then there goes our beloved pasttime.

im not gonna be holier than thou tho. ive dled games b4. shit i can get any ps2 game i want at any time if i wanted to. but in the end your hurting yourself. if they're not making a profit, then they're going to stop making games.
on a side note, there's a helluva faster/easier way to get games than SHlT torrents. the only thing torrents are good for are downloading linux distros over 4gb. other than that, they suck big time. any p2p network (and yes torrents are p2p) suck. it's good to have this convo tho. hopefully ps3 games are hard to pirate, just like the gamecube games are.

I would agree bittorrent is more reliable on really popular files. Things like systm or podcasts that are really popular have files under 200mb and they download like crazy. I was getting over 300kbps on it, and that’s faster than anywhere else on the web period. Even the direct download link was going at about 70kbps because their servers were swamped. Put it this way: If you use bittorrent right, then it will download fast for others. If everyone left their connections open after they download it, it would be perfect.
If you know of a faster way, please do tell. I'd like to try it out.

The only thing faster then bittorent is maybe a quick link? or a non-busy server but I don't get any speeds higher then 80 KB/s on bittorent and my conection is running at 3000 kbps.

If you can find a direct link on a server that's not being swamped, I'm thinking of more popular things. If there are 500 seeders and only 300 leechers, you are going to get the fastest download possible on your system. I'd like to see it become more useful (AKA streaming video or large files that are embedded in websites) which currently it's not set up to do.

Piracy is always going to be a problem, and this may not be that case for consoles but forblank CD's a portion of the price goes directly to the music industry even if you arent burning music also they limit the amount of music you can put on 1 CD ever notice how your 700MB CD can only hold 17 songs while your 250MB MP3 player can hold over 40?

It will be intressing what kind of anti-piracy measures sony is going to employ on ps3 and how long it will take to brake.
Personally i have enjoyed more when i buy my games and play em properly, than to have plenty of copies and no time to play them as they deserve.'no, no one in their sane mind uses OpenGL on PS3' - Repi
'nope, PS3 uses a wonderful low-level API called libgcm' - Repi

i don't plan for modding or chipping my ps3 because i chipped my ps1 and my x-box and both suffered problems a couple of months after they had the chip set installed so never again.
I also feel tha boredom o games is freuent either because you get more and better games or you just feel you need more gmes before completion
of one.

As i heard from lots of people "Mod your PS2 right the first time!" and the reason your not playing the games to the MAX is the fact because you have access to all the games.
And to prevent braking your ps2 don't mod use a boot disc insted.
