Don't use proprietary silicon. New cellphone/media player/tablet hardware is amazingly powerful AND power efficient. When such cell phone based hardware can emulate PS2 games it is time for the PSP2. Such hardware could also handle AMAZING PSP2 games. Same design as PSP-Go with a bigger screen (4"+). Screen should be WVGA (480x842) and 3D. Touch screen, second analogue, and tilt controls. Full PSX, PS2, and PSP BC. HDMI output and Bluetooth. 3D camera built-in. Initially sold in two models, PSP2 and PSP2 Phone running Android. Internal flash memory starting at 32GB but also accepts games on MemoryStick-like cartridges. Deep PSN integration including friends list, in-game chat, and trophies.

L2, R2, L3 and R3
PS2 games like PSP does PS1, with the above all buttons are there
At least 8 hours battery life
Built in camera (decent quality, please)
Phone capabilities
App Store (for scummVM, don't give me reasons to use CFW)
At least 20GB of space (also make a 40GB and 80GB version)
With all the above, I'd gladly pay $300 because I want a fully fledged handheld, no half assed BS. Can live without touch screen (I actually read touch screens have lower resolutions, if so I'd rather it not be there).
BTW shouldn't this be in the PSP section?

-Two Analog sticks that are slightly smaller than the current Dualshock's. I realize this would make it harder for the Psp to be portable with them sticking out so much so I propose they be detachable and you can easily click them back on.
-Add R2 and L2 buttons that are smooth when you press down on them.
-I love the look of the Go! so a similar styled PSP2 would be great. Just make it a bit bigger.
-Rumble.
-As for how the games look, idk. UMD didn't really take off and were just ugly and big. Maybe make a smaller Blu-Ray type disk that you can easily slide into the system.
-Tilt.
-Graphics, really need an upgrade. Make them as close as possible to the Ps3.
-Ability to play PS1, PS2, and most PSN games.
Sell the 60GB for $250 and the 32GB for $200. I can't see a PSP2 being successful at a $300 price.

I thought about that, and well it's undeniable that some people will end up losing them. I could see this as a potential problem but for me at least, I would only detach them whenever I place the system in my pocket, then just pop the analog sticks in my other pocket.
And yeah, I could definitely see how Sony would benefit from this. Same way Nintendo does by selling the extra DS pens.

whatever route they go lets just hope that it has 2 analog sticks. regardless of what they look like i think that having 2 will bring a lot of non psp owners to buy one since that, IMO, was the biggest let down of the original. i mean it would have been so easy to put one on the right side in that blank spot

-PSP go size/weight/shape (ive been ruined by it)
-2 analouges, L2,L3,R2,R3
-Camera
-Touch Screen
-Better specs, ability to emulate PS2 games.
-No UMD- no physical media what-so-ever. Its a bloody portable device!!!- Also it will allow prices to become cheaper cause retailers cant complain anymore.
-Ability to play all downloaded PSP games- Very likely(which is why I only buy PSN games)

Don't need Touch Screen, GPS, AMOLED (needs to be as good as it is on current gen, maybe a bit better resolution.)
Bluetooth w/ HSP and A2DP support (HSP for voice chat, A2DP for game/movie/music audio)
Phone - No way - don't need it and don't want it. Toss on Skype support for those that want to use theres as a phone.
Camera - Ok, nice to have I guess, but fixed lense camera's no matter what resolution are still not going to be a good solution.
Go to SD or mini-SD for external storage - Not going to happen but we could dream. Toss in a standard 32GB of internal memory to let everyone start up w/o a tiny arsed flash drive tossed into a package like it was something special (32GB will be < $5 cost addition to the Bill of Materials by the time we see a PSP2.)
Interface such as XMB is simply SW, don't care what it looks like to be honest as long as it's decent navigating.
Trophies would be nice to have.
As far as Faster CPU&GPU, more Memory, yada yada yada it's going to be there by default. A low power Cell Processor running a slower clock rate and lower core current to keep leakage current down (i.e. won't eat your battery in 2 mins) would be nice.
As for controls - yes 2nd axis is a must, another pair of L/R buttons would be nice (two shoulder buttons one slightly raised beyond the other and set a bit more towards the center) and accelerometers would be nice but not critical.

Playstation 2.5 (or just full ps2) graphics and new dualshock design. I don't really need 2 sticks for my on the go gaming, but why not; make more people happy.
SSD for storage.
