Need help on FF7,

I literally just left he Junon harbor and am riding towards another continent on the boat. But suddenly I cannot progress any further. I talk to everyone and press the action button on everything I see, but I remain stuck. I looked up how to progress further using a guide and apparently when I talk to Barret an alarm is suppose to sound, but it never does.

i think there is a door you go through up some stairs and leads to the upper deck, then you look around and when you return to the lower deck, you start to fight the guards as an alarm is raised for sephiroth ?? and talking to barratt as part of that sounds familiar, you get a summon materia somewhere during this scene too i think

There are only two doors. One on the bottom floor being guarded and the guy won't let me through. He just tells me to get to work and that we might get promotions. The second door is on the top deck and seems to lead tot he room where Rufus and some fat guy are chatting, though the door seems to be just a texture and had no indication it can be used.

Oh, it finally worked. Apparently I had to be standing in the exact spot under Barret's armpit. Just standing next to him apparently doesn't qualify.

Edit: Also, Cloud said only Sephiroth can use his sword, and yet Tifa uses it in the flashback... plothole?

I thought the same thing, but I think it meant in battle... Tifa just picks it up for a stab & doesnt really use it skillfully

Bump. I felt it was better to just revive the thread than make another.

I can't find Yuffie! I've used guides and they state once I reach the world map she will randomly appear in any of the forests. I must have been in over 100 battles wandering around several forests and have not found any sight of her yet. =/

It was a certian forest near Junion... wasnt it??? :S

edit: hmmm. seems it does say any forest... but i found her on the coast near junion... have you been looking around that town??

I already went past Junon. I'm searching the area outside of the Gold Saucer and having no luck.

there is a little forest in a ring around a little destroyed village you can enter, i found her there

She's actually in any forest, I got her before I went to the town where you save the girl that almost drowned. There were forests around there where I ran into her. I'm not sure how random it is but it should be easy to run into her.

Make sure you know the answers to her questions, I messed it up once.

Yes. Certain forests have higher encounter chances with her though as I recall. The one south of Junon early on is pretty good. These other forests are located in the Junon Area, the Gongaga Area, the Nibel Area, the Rocket Launchpad Area, the Woodlands Area, the Mideel Area, on Goblin Island, and on Round Island.

100% Guaranteed way of encountering Yuffie is to use a "source" item then run about in a forest. (e.g. Mind Source, Power Source etc.) This worked for me every playthrough on 6 separate occasions.
