Re: The official Nintendo E3 conference thread.
Its their mistake to hire hot babes. I paid more attention to the boobs than to the 3DS.

Re: The official Nintendo E3 conference thread.
Don't get me wrong here. I love Sony titles. But from a purely business standpoint, Nintendo got what they wanted. They are going to sell gazillions of games and systems if they can keep up with the demand. That's why they won E3. As a gamer, of course I'm pumped to see Agent over Kirby.
But I do like that Epic Mickey title along with Zelda and Metroid.

Re: The official Nintendo E3 conference thread.
Just starting to catch up on the Nintendo conference. I'm not a big Nintendo fan, I tend to think the Wii is a joke, though my niece and nephew love it, and it is hysterical watching my 60yr old parents try to play it with them. Annoyingly 2 of their 4 controllers have died in less than a year. I have a DS and a dozen or so games, that I haven't touched in well over a year. This doesn't bode well.
I just got to the part about the new Zelda game, so Nintendo is leading from their strengths as aside from Mario games it is probably the game most looked for. It looks good for a Wii game, but that's the problem. I'm already having issues. The controls are not as easy or responsive as Shigeru would have us believe, they certainly aren't smooth as they could be. If the game's developer has this many basic issues there's a problem. And I can't help but think that the game would look better and play better on a PS3 with a Move controller. Not only would the graphics be much better, with higher frame rate, everything I've seen so far suggests the Move simply blows the wiimote out of the water for speed and accuracy. Wii games tend to work best when a cartoony graphical theme is used, it doesn't handle realism well. I will give them credit for making fun of Apple with the turn off the wireless comments. The demo is very long, who needs to see every tool? For a game that won't be out till next year.
Yawn Wii Party. Oh look a new Nintendo dance game that looks tragic compared to the one shown for 360 and Kinect yesterday (though I'm still not convinced the kinect game really works). I really wish more companies would drop the boring stat list, one of the few pluses for MS yesterday was not doing the same old look how great we are.
GoldenEye, one of the few none Mario Nintendo games I think actually deserved the acclaim it got. Too bad it is on the Wii and looks generations out of date. Strange that they replaced Pierce Brosnan as Bond with Daniel Craig but didn't pick a new film to base the game around. So it looks like a moderate graphical and engine improvement coupled with a wiimote remake of the original. The original was a fair bit of fun in 4 player multiplayer, but is this update enough to make it worth the time? Guess we'll find out. Nostalgia gaming at its best, the kids who didn't play the first game likely won't be that impressed.
Epic Mickey might be the only title the Wii has or will ever get that I'm actually annoyed won't be on another platform, though rumors suggest that may one day change. Again though, shame it is on the Wii. The game looks more ambitious than the Wii can really handle.
Kirby's Epic Yarn, on the one hand it might well be the best looking game Wii has, on the other is the least interesting game so far in the presentation. Metroid: Other M is another game that looks good for a Wii game, but I'm noticing a lot of "for a Wii game" in my reactions. Nintendo really needs to produce a new more powerful Wii and get close to this generation rather than playing in the past. It doesn't help that I really dislike how the Wiimote is used in most Wii games, so rarely does it really improve game play. And maybe it is just me but Donkey Country Returns actually looks a bit like a graphical step back from the N64 editions, though it'll probably still be fun.
Nearly 30 minutes devoted to the 3DS. New thumb stick. Same touch screen. Can view movies, likely must mean a big memory card or internal memory has been added. 3D camera. Always on wireless and wifi access, not sure I like that. Sounds like some form of multi-tasking, again suggesting a big memory card, and maybe download software or software installations. Sounds like a pretty significant upgrade from the DS, but still feels a bit like a a half step towards the modern hardware, sort of like they aimed to not quite match the PSP for power but added some decent features to try make up for it. Would like to see how well the 3D screen actually works, not really thinking I'll buy one though.
The crowd reaction was less enthusiastic than I'd expected, most shots of the crowd showed only a few people cheering. But overall I'd say Nintendo did a lot better than MS did. The presentation was largely kid friendly, and like Sony they did stats which are always boring. However I had to pause this to watch Sony's presentation which largely just kills the other two. There weren't as many game announcements as I would have expected, and very little in the way of third party support which is odd for the top selling machine of the generation.

Re: The official Nintendo E3 conference thread.
It appears there is also a remake for Legend of Zelda:OOT coming to the 3DS. Apparently it was listed/leaked(including screenshots) on Nintendo's E3 website, but later pulled from the site by Nintendo.

Re: The official Nintendo E3 conference thread.
Yeah Nintendo have sat back and clearly thought this through that a few hundred dollars is acceptable for a 3D. Spending Thousands of dollars on a TV and getting the home experience as a result is a proposition that is too expensive. There is also of course this whole glasses issue.
LOL. For sure ownage is coming up.

Wow connecting the family-friendly 3d device with family-friendly 3d movies is pure genius.
Shut the kids up on long car trips with each of them watching their own 3d pixar movie. I can see it being huge.
