Does anyone have any stories personal or non-personal of people getting robbed for a new console or new game?
The reason I ask is because I am from a bad neighborhood and have to carry a weapon just to keep a video game console, thats how bad it has gotten.

I wasn't robbed for a new console...A few years ago someone broke into our home while we were out, stole my Playstation, N64, and SNES and I haven't seen them since

Well. When I was about 10, I had at least 40+ PS1 games that I kept in a box. I played all of them all the time. One day they were suddenly gone, but I knew who took them. It was either my brother (who got in with the wrong crowd when he was 13) or one of his thug friends. I was absolutuely heartbroken. I think I stayed in my room for a week before I came back out. It kinda separated me and my brother after that happened, and we haven't been too close since.

Are you going to try to get one come launch day?

Nope, I have never been robbed. I live in a pretty damn quiet suburb so nothing really happens here.
It must sucked getting robbed just when you get the console

I have to have it at launch day no matter what. If there is going to be a lot of hype over the Playstation 3 then it is going to be pretty dangerous around here.
You?

I don't think I'll have it on launch. I'll be on vacation at my mom's house and he lives down near her. I live 300 miles from my brother or any of his stupid fucking friends. I personally wouldn't mind if I didn't see my brother for another 10 years. But that's beside the point. I don't want to get a $600 dollar toy stold from me.

Now you guys have me scared... perhaps I should wrap my new PS3 in an Xbox360 box... being laughed at for being a loser is better than having your PS3 stolen... right?
Wait... I live in Canada... never mind!!
Wow, KJ, all your games stolen... my sympathies goes out to you...
It's really sad what people will do just for games...it's all just games...

And the worst part it was my own family. I know he didn't steal them because he likes games, he stole them so he could sell them to a pawn shop for money
He also stole my playstation, but my mom found out what he did with it, and she went and got it back for me. I <3 mom.

08-03-2006 #17How is that even remoately funny? Fanboy or not, he worked hard to get his console and it was stolen from him.

Thats pretty sad your brother stole your games...what did your mom do? Call the cops and get his ass arrested for possesion of illegal games, grand theft, possesion of illegal weapons, threats, battery, assasult, discrimination, kidnapping of a video game, and much more. Nobody touches a PS1 to later sell it for cash

He took it to a pawn shop, and she found out which one and she bought it back for $20. I never got the games back though.

Again, I<3 mom. ^_^

I know,Hell I would have given them the money, but you can't turn back time.
That happened in Venezuela,it's harder to live down there.
You can't wear anything nice(Nike shoes,Designer clothing) without being held at gunpoint,Mainly the reason I don't want to go back unless I'm just visting my family.
