REVIEWS
METACRITIC SCORE 88
GAMETRAILERS - 92
Dirt 3 really does have something for drivers at every level, offering a surprising amount of variety. It's a strong package overall, with beautiful landscapes and an exhilarating sense of speed, making it perfect for anyone who wants to take a not-so-quiet drive through the woods.

EUROGAMER ITALY - 91
Thanks to its engaging racing experience, DiRT 3 will surely please both fans of the genre and any gamer in search of some breathtaking action. If you love cars, you can't miss it.

VIDEOGAMER - 90
It's got the looks, the style, the superb sense of speed, and spot-on handling model that blurs the line between sim and arcade. It also introduces Gymkhana and with it excellent potential for players becoming addicted to going for new high scores. What it doesn't do is innovate in the racing game genre, generally making refinements where needed rather than redefining what's expected in a modern racer.

INCGAMERS - 90
In combining traditional events with those (like Gymkhana) that videogames have not before attempted, DiRT 3 manages to feel both fresh and traditional. Codemasters have been churning out top-quality racing games for a long time now and their experience ring through in the way they've expertly crafted and balanced distinct modes of play into one cohesive whole.

PLAYSTATION OFFICIAL MAGAZINE UK - 90
Helping you keep that momentum is a masterful handling model. [June 2011, p.96]
GAME INFORMER - 88
Codemasters has made a good name for itself with this franchise's heart-pounding racing and arresting graphics ? which are even more striking with the inclusion of night driving and falling snow. The renewed focus on rally racing and the addition of Gymkhana keeps it in good shape, even as it pares down some of its previously interesting career aspects.

SPAZIO GAMES - 86
Dirt 3 will please the fan of the brand, bestowing them with a lot of content, quality graphics and phisycs simulation. It's not a simulation though, and some bugs and lack of polish sometimes spoil the overall formula. The interesting multiplayer modes add variety to the mix, and will grant you a lot of fun beyond the career itself.

IGN - 85
While the agent isn't the best leader through the tour, and the garage is limited in its operation, the solid gameplay, variety of tracks and events, and overall fun factor make this a terrific game.

Nice thread. I didn't like Dirt or Dirt 2, it didn't have the fun factor that previous McRae games had. But, I'll keep an eye out for this.

Too arcadey these days, I'll get the WRC game instead!

YES YES YES YES!
This is great for many reasons, but I will list 3.
1) I love the Series, all the way back to the original McRae games. These are some of my favorite games out there, and glad to see them still going after his death.
2) This will finally allow for Dirt2 to drop in price, I have been waiting for ages.
3) People may actually start trading in Dirt2 so I can buy it used. It has been impossible lately for me to find it anywhere.

Yes I have played it, I am about 60% to platinum.
I never said anything about Dirt 2 being the best or the worst game in the series. I simply stated that the McRae series is one of my favorite gaming series out there. I also stated that I have had an extremely hard time finding a copy of the game used to get it cheaper. I realize its not the best in the series and don't want to pay full retail price. The game didn't even get a price drop in most stores until just this past month. Since then I have been watching the stores for a used copy that would be even cheaper so I could pick up the only title in the series I am yet to own.
I was just in Future Shop not an hour ago and it is $49.99 New. (Canadian) So my 3 points still stand.

Love to see how they can top the damage simulation - driving in the cockpit and going through puddles and hoping that you aren't going to crash when you regain visibility was a freaky but awesome experience. No racing game this gen gets the adrenaline pumping bar Dirt.

Isn't it a little too early for an official thread, like it isn't out until 2011.

I see it no longer says Colin McRae. Good, the CMR games were way better.

Yeah Dirt is pretty lame in comparison.

Why can't people let threads grow instead of derailing them on the first page? It doesn't matter how 'early' the thread is. Only that it's maintained, and is actually about the game.
On the subject of Dirt. Nice trailer. I hope this one is less arcadey than the last. Will definitely keep an eye on it from here on out.Last edited by *goo; 08-02-2010 at 18:36.

Sweet vid. How is this game series anyway? Thought about playing Blur or Grid OR Dirt.
-
08-03-2010 #23
Three different games. Blur is too arcadey with a lot of power-ups like in Mario Kart. Grid is a lot of fun and the graphics are pretty good for a 2008 game. Dirt 2 is IMO the best of the three game, with excellent graphics, and a nice selection of cars and events. Great value.

"What happened to bros before hoes?" "Well, this one isn't a hoe, so she's first."
