With the type of games we're seeing so far, and the marketing already being blitzed. Kinect won't flop as some were hoping. That, along with their core games, will ensure that the 360 sees growth over this year.

Microsoft more times than not has a 6 month mentality. They show games closer to launch than Sony. We all know this. Apart from say gears and halo

Yeah exactly... they have to announce some games though rather than keep them so closely guarded, if that is what they are doing.

mate all companies do that keep them close to their chest. Mean while the others are diving in and reaping the rewards

Ok I have another question based off MS's previous holiday quarters. How many consoles do you think they need to move in order for the heavy focus behind Kinect to be considered a success? Keep in mind that they are expecting results right for consoles sales along with kinect individual sales(biggest launch ever;$500m). I'm expecting sales better than their best holiday season. So somewhere around 6.5m or more.

Prepare for meltdowns if these next gen console rumors are true. Phase 1: Denial. Phase 2: Mask a lie under "opinion" vs a fact. Phase 3: Bring up the PS3/360 era when it has nothing to do with the subject. Phase 4: Say that the power gap doesn't matter but constantly defend the weaker specs.

Good question, I guess we "expect" sales betwene 5.5 and 6 million, so I guess anything above 6.5 you could consider making a significant impact, anything betwene 6-6.5 I think you could say it was a factor but not a masisve one.
If its closer to 7 then I think MS would consider Kinnect really taking off.
Anything above 7 and we may have Wii like sales happening.

This thread is a good idea, And on the topic of 45million, alot of people estimated 360 was gonna sell around 50million this generation and well that is fast approaching
"Everything that has ever happened has been leading up to this very moment"
"What happened to bros before hoes?" "Well, this one isn't a hoe, so she's first."

11-15-2010 #40http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6AE4EQ20101115(Reuters) - Microsoft Corp said on Monday it has sold more than 1 million of its new hands-free Kinect gaming systems in the first 10 days since launch

Next step will to be to take that 1 million units on the market and convert those that have no 360 or Kinnect to get both.
I wonder what mix is standalone vs bundled.

No suprise there, Sony has never managed parity here. They are always more expensive, but I am suprised I can still buy a 250gb with Kinect for cheaper than a standalone 160gb PS3.

$699 thats a move bundle 320gb.
The 320gbs are all $699, you can either chooose a couple of games for free, or move with it.
There is no move/160gb bundle.
Move alone costs $99 (with eye) or $79 for just the controller.
Just a demo disc with it, no matter which flavour you pick.
Sports Championship is a seperate title.

11-16-2010 #50source@http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...-uk-xbox-salesSales of Xbox 360 in the UK doubled last week off the back of the launch of Kinect, Eurogamer has learnt.
The spike was confirmed this afternoon by sales monitor Chart-Track, a spokesperson stating that, while specific figures could not be revealed, it was "more than a fair reflection" to say the figure was double that of the previous week.
The boost is understood to have widened substantially the gap between Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with Sony's biggest hope for a pre-Christmas surge coming next week with the release of the long-delayed Gran Turismo 5.
