there we go. i want to smash into a tree and watch it come crashing down. i want to stand in front of a tree and shoot it until it falls down. use it to take out foes, or build myself a little fort of sorts. a missle launcher would come in all sorts of handy if that was the case...Originally Posted by wonders1982

Oh oh, I have one.
IF speedtree can generate destructable trees and create lush forests at the same time, can you simulate wide spread forest fires using this middleware? That would increase the playability and freedom of a game by a lot."and I mean If he doesn't like you after he sees this, then you're just gonna have to go back home and put some more make up on."

Does a developer have to rely on the preset tree/texture/branch/leaf types and just mix and match them, or can a developer create their own "tree parts" to add to the "pool" of available assets from which the trees are generated? It would be a bit annoying to see the exact same tree(textures, leaves, and all) in multiple games.
Does SpeedTree work with animated tree models, such as leaves and branches swaying in the breeze, or falling over from being cut down? Does it offer interactive functionality such as destroying the trees or setting them on fire?

Can the seasons change with the trees? ie: can we get a series of reds and yellows in the fall - no leaves in the winter - and some nice, lucious greens in the spring?

PS3Land: Trees and other aspects of the enviroment are becoming a big part of destructable sceenery, crysis is one example, do you see an end to indestructable enviroments for most games this generation?

Got the interview back and it will be going live within the next few days. I want to wait a bit since I just posted the new Pandemic Studios Interview and their game Mercenaries 2.

Can speed tree be immersed with a physics program to create a realistic looking effect of weather? Such as blizzards, tornados, wind storms etc.
Is this something on the horizon?

Ps3Land: What great innovations do you have planned for the future as we enter the next-generation of console gaming for SpeedTree?

How many developers are using SpeedTree now, and will we see in the coming year?
What is the performance and memory footprint of SpeedTree?
How easy is it to create a wide variety of game models?
How easy is it to animate the game models? Does SpeedTree incorporate any environmental features like wind or rain?
How fully can you populate scenery with minimal performance hit?
How friendly is SpeedTree in incorporating itself to the graphic feature set of the console, with lighting, shading, texture mapping, physics etc? How tweakable is it?
Which console architecture seems to favor SpeedTree? Now writing: two Ratchet & Clank novels, a Sly 4 novel, and two rock albums
PSN ID: Tetsumura/Tetsumaru019
Pray for this planet! And I don't mean the environment

Does SpeedTree do all kinds of natural foliage or just trees? Including, grass, dirt, rocks, other plants, etc.
How good does it look?

I believe SpeedTree is a key for trees but it also makes the environment look a lot better. I don't really know how it all works.
Just check here for some examples: http://www.speedtree.com/[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

- How many more trees would PS3 be able to handle over Xbox 360?
- Are all the trees be able to have physics enabled like in crysis?
Not sure if the first one would be that easy to answer though.
