I did this as a simple sig for a contest. Normally I'd do more, but my competition isn't very good, so yeah.

Yeah, so here's the thing. I'm losing the competition . . . badly.
Personally I think mine looks the best since the second just sucks and the third is just a cropped picture with some lousy, jagged text over it.

MATRIX APU 6a with lighting adj v low res.jpg
I Still want to do some further tweaks, but what do you guys think?
EDIT: Why is it so small?

@the_jim: Looks like a great scene. So good that I can't tell what you did, though. Haha. Anyway, very dramatic and has a nice mood to it.
The image is small because you made it an attachment instead of linking it in [img] tags. We can see the full size when we click it, though. At any rate, you should do [img] tags instead.
We can't see the competition without being a member there.Last edited by Bio; 12-21-2010 at 02:01.

@Wiggy: Looks interesting. I love the effects. I think Vegeta and the text are oddly placed, though. Everything else about, however, is well done.
I like yours the best easily...so it's a tough call to say why you're being outdone. However, I'm willing to bet you're losing because you lost touch with the taste of your audience. Both of your competing sigs are generic. Yours is creative. If the creativity is not derived at some degree from elements that interest your audience, they will not embrace the creative work over the generic one.
In this case, your sig elements are modern, minimalist, and futuristic. The other works are dramatic and have a masculine feel to them. I think if you incorporated generic themes like these to some degree in your composition, you would have won over more voters. Not that there's anything wrong with how it is. Your audience just didn't seem to connect to it.Last edited by Bio; 12-22-2010 at 07:23.

@spryde: I have no idea what I'm looking at, but it's like an amazingly cool abstract design. I'm seeing some abruptness in where you started the blurriness along the bottom, right, and left contours of the frame, though, which seems to be working against you a little (the abruptness, that is). The strength of everything else makes this easy to ignore, however. Very well done, sir.
@Kint: Looks nice. Interesting color choices and I love the splatter arrangement. I think the duplicated shapes in your splatter effects are bringing down the overall design a bit, though (notably in the region above the text). It's effective to duplicate certain elements to fill the canvas, but not to the point where it's obvious once the work is finished. On the whole, I really dig those colors and arrangements. Good stuff. :]Last edited by Bio; 12-22-2010 at 19:01.

Yeah, when you drag the brush, it just duplicates the given shape.
Thanks for the compliment. :] At any rate, it will be awhile before I'm able to finish any drawings. I've been far too busy lately.

Sig 1: The focal and surrounding effects look a bit too over-sharpened/contrasted (if you look closely you can see that its quite heavily pixelated). If you tone it down a bit it will be a great sig.
Sig 2: Same problem as the first one, just not as much. Biggest issue is that the focal is sorta lost in the effects. At first glance it was hard to make out what it was.
Overall, the effects and colours are great. Try blurring from time to time to create some depth (as well as make your focal a bit clearer). Just be careful not to over-sharpen the sig.

Real lovely, you have the most original and interesting sigs here without a doubt! My personal favorites are Chun-Li and Hayley Williams.
I think you could make an own thread for all your sigs, I guess I could make one too, been designing for over a year now. Though, most of my stuff is gone.... :/

Dayum, Blur, your work is really impressive.
Oh, and spydre - hands off, Miss Williams is all mine.

My personal opinions are not endorsed by PSU. But they should be.
