You probably read the reviews and the many lies they spouted.
Here are a few of the lies debunked-
Game cannot handle fast punches
*The game is 1:1, there is no slowdown in punching, it punches at your own speed no matter how fast that is.
Your character stands in the way of the camera blocking your view
*The camera view can be changed by pressing the triangle button, yes, the player will not be in the way if you change the camera view.
You have to stand still during a fight
*It does tell you to stand still but you can move your feet around without any concern it is just a warning to not go too far from the camera otherwise you have to stand back in front and press circle button to recalibrate. Again making small movements has no effect on it, even moving forward as i did a number of times does not break anything.
You have to press a button and throw your guard up to block
*Guarding can be done by just raising your arms as you would in a normal fight, if your feeling lucky you can even block a punch with one arm by raising your arm up before the punch connects. (Forgot about that one thanks ONQ)
Those were the worse complaints that i can remember, if anyone has any questions feel free to ask.
My biggest beef with it is that there are no female models in the create-a-character. (Unless i missed it?)
Overall i'd give it an 8/10

You should go back and read the reviews again. While they did consider those complaints in the reviews, you're missing out on the big picture of why most reviews have the game listed as mediocre.
I'm glad that some people think it's good though despite the problems that were bringing the reviews down.

It will take a few fights and at least 1 restbreak to get your timing and aim down, it is imperative that you aim or else you'll find yourself swatting air and physically exhausting yourself. The great part about the game is that your punches are absolutely 1:1 and therefore you can and must aim them. Once you get your rhythm down, The Fight is without a doubt the greatest fighting game ever made. Ilove being able to use the custom soundteack feature during an intense fight, lol when I hear a banging verse from one of the Wu Tang clan members during the middle of a fight, it gives me a second wind lol. I remember some reviewers knocking the game for its hip hop soundtrack, funny they never mentioned the custom soundtrack feature, play whatever the **** you want and dont complain if you dont like the games soundtrack.
Also, Danny Trejo aka The Duke is a ****ing badass, great casting.
I use tthe center camera view and have had no problem seeing exactly where I need to punch. I find that its important to calibrate the Move remotes from about 8 feet back to ensure the camera doesn't lose sight of them during a fight. Also, the between fight calibration could not be any quicker and easier, two quick simple steps which are perfectly worth it to ensure precise 1:1 tracking.
I've won the first four fights and can honestly say this is the king of fighting games and I havent even gone online yet. I'm looking forward to that once I sufficiently upgrade my fighter. We need a forum fighting tourney!Last edited by swordfish64; 11-11-2010 at 10:55.

I did and beat two guys stronger than me online with pure fighting skill and they pulled their network cables out before it ruined their win/loss streak xD
The only thing that needs polishing is your fighting skills hombre.
I find the game mildly sexist in that respect. If you are a female you should be able to fight another female.Last edited by mickice; 11-11-2010 at 14:20.

I'll pick mine up this weekend and look for you online, my PSN name is raggarichie. You don't have to worry about me disconnecting if i'm losing. That is the main reason i don't play sports games on line because people always disconnecting when i'm winning.

I honestly had a difficult time at first, took me quite a few tries to defeat the first fighter, then after being more disciplined and precise with my punches everything clicked and I knocked the next 3 opponents out. The game is not for casuals and is not noon friendly, it is a totally awesome hardcore boxing/streetfighting experience and a killer workout. But I can totally see why people/ reviewers may get a bad first impression, you have to not only be able to punch, but have rhythm, timing and aiming down or your physical stamina will suffer and youll get frustrated when all your punches start missing and you get physically worn out. I liken it to learning to ride a bike, you can't just sit on the thing and start riding, bu, like this game, there is an awesome experience to be had once you learn how to do it. It would be a shame if someone were to say riding a bike sucks because it's so frustrating and misses out on an incredibly fun experience just cause the initial learning curve is so frustrating. Anyway, I'm happy to see that a lot of people are able to appreciate the awesomeness of this game, knocking your opponents out is one of the most awesome gaming experiences I've everhad and I can't wait to figh another real person be it online or splitscreen

Who would actually want to admit that they just dropped $40 on a game that wasn't good, even after reading all the mediocre reviews? All the mediocre reviews are consistent with the problems in the game. That, and our very own PSU review has the very same issues with the game... I have to question the motives of why the game receiving the praise it has on these forums, but it is to be expected to some degree.

I agree but I've seen people whine about buying ****ty games before and flip them. I think a demo would allow anyone that's remotely interested to form their own opinion though. Most importantly myself
I'm wary of reviews but also wary of all the positive talk by people that own it. A demo would sort that.

Personally, if I bought a 40 dollar game and it sucked, I would be pissed and I would rant about it, not influence every one else to waste their 40 dollars too. It doesn't make much sense to hype a game up BECAUSE it didn't meet your expectations.
And Lair WAS an awesome game, I don't give a flying **** what reviews say and I certainly couldn't care less if it was exclusive. It was a good game that didn't deserve the treatment it got, period. GTA4 got amazing reviews, I bought it, and that game was horrible. Same thing happened with MW2. Reviews are NOT always accurate. The bottom line here is that people's opinions, whether it's a "professional" review or a person who bought the game, are going to vary and to make the broad generalization and insinuate that the only reason people are "enjoying" the game is because they want so badly for it to be good because of some imaginary allegiance they have to Sony and Move is insulting bull**** and is just as stupid as if I were to point fingers at you and say that you're parading around "professional" reviews because you want the game to fail.
I urge people to form their own opinions. You may not be able to take the game back and get cash but you can most certainly get store credit which you can use to by one of the many other games out there.
(btw I didn't mean to rep your post, I had multiple windows open and was looking at the wrong page, but we'll just call it a freebie)

or it could be that the issues that the reviewers have with the game are not really big issues to the people that's playing the game.
like Dance Central people that's trying to be critical of Kinect look at the game and say you're not controlling the game but the people that understand that it's not about controlling the dancers just keep dancing and having fun.
they read the reviews & understand that they wasn't going to be able to play in 1st person view & understand that they will have to hold the move button and move the controller to move the player around, but they also read that it's tracking your punches 1:1 with little to no lag & gives you a good workout,
& just want to have a fighting game that tracks their punches 1:1 so they can feel like they are in control of the fight.
no matter how bad the reviews are people still see something that they want in this game.
