Police called over 'suspicious package'... from Amazon

A police officer raced to the house in Hudson, Ohio, after the man reported seeing a stranger leaving the package on his doorstep in mid-afternoon.
When he arrived, however, the police officer couldn't help noticing it was 'clearly labelled' with the Amazon logo, and asked the man if he had ordered from the website recently.
‘Well, yes I did,’ he replied.
The police officer informed the man that his order had arrived, and left him to happily open the parcel in his own time.

Hey, it could have been highly volatile, extremely dangerous Epson toner.

In all fairness, there's nothing to stop a would-be-terrorist from hiding an explosive design in a mock Amazon parcel.

My personal opinions are not endorsed by PSU. But they should be.

    o wow..........

why did he think they would specifically target him. there's no way he constitutes a big enough target.

EDIT: hmm actually that would be all over the world press. yep he could be a legit terror target. but dude cmon.

Sorry Ty, just a little out of my jurisdiction.

We get calls like this every so often. Mainly from people that are a little older, and either didn't remember ordering something, or the order gets there "suspiciously early". I don't mind at all checking these things out. We once did have a IED inside a package, that was marked with a retail branding. It's never "business as usual".

good practice, regardless how stupid the call may be, unless of course it gets out of hand. I remember my mother calling the cops because there was a small paper bag on fire on her front door step. When I got there, there were cops at the house and I asked them what was going on. They said that someone knocked on her door and left a paper bag on fire on her door step. I knew exactly what it was so I started laughing and said to them "good thing no one stomped it out" and we all started laughing. Damn rascals although they did find the kids doing it later that night so the kids did get in trouble.

If they start staking out houses with high Amazon package traffic, they might as well move in across the street from us - we're on a first name basis with the UPS/FedEx guys

That's why the kids got in some trouble.

but if you are saying it was bad for the police to chuckle after I did, then don't even sit there and tell me you never laughed at something that could "potentially" cause a danger but it didn't. If you have been an officer for so many years 100% chance you actually have unless of course your a robot.

bah, whatever I am tired and grumpy today, not much sleep just....whatever.

Oh I can understand how you wouldn't mind answering a call like this, especially if you're on patrol.

Likely it means you get a bit of a break and get to be nice to an old person. Worst case scenario you walk into a situation that takes up the entire day?

It'd be totally unprofessional to not answer these calls. That still doesn't mean I won't be ready to mock the people who make the calls :P

    TERROR! TERROR! TERROR! FEAR! DEATH!

Americans have been so filled with fear and terror by their government through television, and the result is now they believe that even the UPS delivery guy is a potential terrorist.
    How did you survive?
    Didn't. Got killed...
    God, I love that joke.
