Rarely any snipers in BO

The only decent map to snipe on is Array and even then its a pretty difficult map to snipe on with no real open areas to get a good shot off. The maps in general are too small for sniping so I don't even bother its a waste of time to try and can be extremely frustrating.

Must say sniping is definitely coming back I just got 69-12 with Hard scopes and a few quickscopes on jungle. Aswell as other respectable results before hand bring on the skilled sniping!

The shotgun is a completey seperate issue. Shotties have to be a primary weapon now not a secondary like the previous games. That is the reason you don't see them very often. Sniping is NOT an essential part of a shooter. When playing SOCOM you could make ranked rooms with weapon restrictions and the majority of those were no snipe rooms and the gameplay was much better. Sniping is the father of camping, simple fact.

I snipe pretty much half of the time once i've unlocked the bolt action rifle. Up to that point i just stick with the Famas, MP5K and Galil and i know on the PC version atleast there are a lot of snipers. The sniping isn't messed up as bad as it is on the console though so you can still quick scope/no scope if you enjoy that sort of thing, what i do.

Yep, the maps are too small. Thankfully the damage on the rifles has been tweaked successfully, I tried the game last night and managed an 18-2 on Jungle with 12 kills coming from the LSG. Thing is though, it was really lucky to get a lobby where folk weren't either...

• Dashing around on speed perks creating more lag
• Firing random noob-tubes
• Spraying Assault rifles & SMGs across the map & through walls & floors

There's more cheap / rubbish players in the run & gun classes for this game (and MW2). Snipers can be bad sometimes, sitting there all match on the same spot. But there are a fair few of us who spend 15-30 secs at one of around 6 spots per map, moving on after a kill.

Far more bad run & gunners, constantly doing the above 3 tactics with absolutely no skill needed. Sadly the game is set up to reward luck. Wall penetration is too easy, same for floors. Knifing should be harder like in Bad Company 2. Spawn system shagged, etc.

What the bad R&G's can't seem to grasp is that snipers good or bad are simply and wholly against the trend of random lucky COD gameplay (I know seriously no-one on my friends list who gets consistent runs of over 3 great scores / games like they did in MW1, WAW), and want to actually concentrate and do things with that old forgotten friend, skill.

There are some great run & gunners out there, who can use an AUG or whatever and move intelligently, use ammo wisely, call in streaks with great timing. But they're the minority from what I've seen in MW2 & BO. Black Ops pretty much forces you to run & gun. Add the amount of kids playing, the cheap classes they bring, the older folk who play casually and just copy their classes to compete with the cheap kids... It makes me want to do something to counter it - but not join it. Run & gunning against cheap run & gunners doesn't work so great because of the lag, especially against those on Marathon.

Saw it all last night, I tried the game out as I'd heard it'd been patched at least twice since I last played. Some things improved but the fundamental flaws are random gameplay (far more random than BC2), which means less of a rewarding feeling. People moan about camping, sniping etc but the obvious mess is elsewhere.

after reading about the recent patches i may just have to put this game back in. i forced myself to prestige once then ran back to MW2 to enjoy killing (mostly sniping) again. i think i've always prefered the pace of the IW games to the Treyarch games but honestly i got so much satisfaction from sniping people in w@w because i found it harder to do with the older weapons.

i love FPS and think the call of duty series are the best ever--especially the IW produced games.

they are fewer due to the crappy respawn system, you can't set up a position for more then 20 secs before you have a boogy spawn next to you. You can on some maps, but the rotations stink. I like the option to vote, but its not the fix. I think they should set up the servers to just start at the first one and you go through them ALL. not options to vote or anything. That way if you don't like the map bounce, I like to play all the maps. I sniped the other day for a couple games, it was nice, but the maps are tight to get good spots. I know some are better, but normally everyone plays nuketown, cuz its SO cool...( I don't like it normally) but have had great games there, its fun for crazyness, but I like to be able to spawn in too.

All the ppl calling snipers campers are really dumb or stupid or just dont know how to play. Snipers are an essential part of a shooter. I am not much of a sniper myself but I did snipe in COD4, W@W & MW2. Hated QS and I was happy it was removed in this one. The map designs are so bad and the assault rifles and smgs are all we see. Hell I rarely see someone with a LMG or a shotty now.

Seriously, Quick-scoping was one of the few aspects of MW2 and especially Black Ops that takes a lot of skill. You can't watch this and possibly say that iReapZz quick-scopes on pure luck. She's insane at sniping.

I think you just agreed with what I said. I said I love sniping/snipers but don't like the ret ards who try to quick scope and waste 2 entire clips when they could have easily killed the conventional way or with the side arm or by knifing but try to look "cool" (more like an idiot) and die!!!!

But this doesn't mean sniping is bad. Sniping the conventional way is way satisfying and balances the game imo.

Thing is, you can still use an L96 with variable scope + steady aim and run around - i've had lots of good games with that set up. It's just a shame there's no other decent bolt action rifles

ye, im done with cod.....im going to trade in all my cods to gamestop ill keep MW the rest are done....i hope they dont pump out a cod every yr. im guna stil be tempted to pick up the game even tho i know ill get bored after a few weeks....FPS are sweet except with cod it could be alot better if it wuz slowed down, tactical, and more realistic.

Yes, I play soccer, tennis, and I run thanks. Sports are not video games. While in competitive sports you are obviously playing to win, video games are different. Gaming is pure entertainment whereas sports can be someone's ticket to college, a career, etc. Not everyone buys a video game to go all out winning every game. If that was the case, they would be a lot less fun for some people. Sure, going tryhard is fun once in awhile, but the whole idea behind interactive games is to emerse yourself in a fantasy world where you can just relax and do whatever you wish at any time. It's for fun.
