I read the explanation again and I guess I missed the part about you'll need to be giving rep. points before you'll see anything in your ucp.

It shows your Reputation on the page that shows up right when you press "UserCP"...even if you have 0 it should say 0.

I think there should be a limit with this Rep Power. I mean that something like +20 rep (this is just example) would be the highest. Some people could see this as a competition, who has more Rep Power etc.
Man who chase after bus get exhausted, man who run in front of bus get tired
Man who masturbates in class has firm grip of subject at hand
Woman who sink in man's arms soon have arms in man's sink

There really isn't any competition in rep power. Those who came first and have more posts naturally have more rep. power.

When I press Usercp this is what I see. My subscribed threads.

I don't think that's entirely true. Sure you get rep. points for a certain amount of post, points and days for being a forum member. Still, people can give or take points from you in relation to the quality of your posting skills.

Okay thats wierd, because its below subscribed topics for me. Maybe...Im guessing its a glitch when transferred over? I registered when they had VBulletin up. you obviously were here when they still had phpBB I believe it was. So maybe it doesnt think of your account as a VBUlletin account? ...The admins are going to have to fix this problem lol.

I'll PM one of the admins/mods about this.
Does anybody else have the same problem?

I think it only shows up if you've recieved a reputation... like so:
"and I mean If he doesn't like you after he sees this, then you're just gonna have to go back home and put some more make up on."

I see, if that's the case than my questions are answered. Thanks for the help PBS.

I think we should give members with less than 1000 posts 1 rep. power. why?
This may sound childish and self-centered but I already recieved 9 reps and 8 of them don't count... I want... I want rep points...

I've given it out a few times. I don't understand the whole "You might get lucky and get points as well" dialog box.

Rep power is how great you can add to someone elses rep. Currently Morpheus...possibly Rebon, is the only one who can give 10 rep points.
I think all Mods should have at least a 10 point rep just because we hold a higher expectation for well written and intelligent posting.
As far as gaining rep is concerned, I agree with LP Chris that it would most likely take a lifetime to get a golden rep status."It's real hard to be free when you are bought and sold in the marketplace.

Of course, don't ever tell anybody that they're not free, 'cause then they're gonna
get real busy killin' and maimin' to prove to you that they are." ~Easy Rider (1969)

What can I do with my Rep points?

-
08-18-2006 #44
Should I have a Rep Power of 1 and not 0? Unless I read the explanation wrong, anyone who's been here for a year should have 1 point of Rep Power.

I find the giving rep system a bit stupid. Because you give away your rep to give people rep that basically means you better not rep people if you want good rep. also that would mean if you even want to get 2000 rep 200 people would have to give you ALL their rep meaning they cant rep anyone else.(assuming rep gives 1 rep per rep)...just saying theres never going to be enough for even 10 people to get near 2000 rep with how the system works.
There are about 5000 members on this forum, not all active but lets say they are. And all give rep to a certain person until that person has exactly 2000 rep and then goes to the next person.
5000/200(again assuming rep gives only 1 rep per rep)...Only 25 people can get 2000 rep and thats assuming all 5000 users are active and actually do rep.
I suggest making it so you dont loose your rep when repping people...just a thought.

... you don't. The amount of rep points that you give out depends on how much rep power you have. For example, if I rep someone, their rep point will either go up or go down 2 points because I have two rep power.
No matter how many times I give reps, my rep power never decreases...
However, since you don't have 1000 posts, you have 0 rep, so your reps have no significance on a user's rep point count at this point. That is why I think people should have rep power when they have over 100 posts since that would make it much more fair for the majority of the forum."and I mean If he doesn't like you after he sees this, then you're just gonna have to go back home and put some more make up on."

You and a mob of other members should PM Morpheus to change the first lock on rep powers, you know, pressure him to make a change. Actually, I'll PM him too.

People who rep you and have 0 rep power, then that rep doesnt count(or is neutral).
