This game is an excellent sequel. Everything is upgraded, tweaked and improved, and I find the atmosphere of this game amazing and the lighting is perfect.

Gameplay- 8.5/10 The gameplay is definitely fun and great, although I have to criticize some aspects of the gameplay. I think it's wrong to include gameplay elements if they are almost rarely used in the game. One of these is CQC (Close Quarter Combat). I only really needed it two times in the game and that was only because it was required then. Otherwise it was really something extra. It's hard to get up at an enemy without causing an alert just to use CQC. And unlike Metal Gear Solid 1, it's hard to know if the enemy is facing you or facing away from you using Snake's radar, so you don't know if moving towards an enemy will cause an alert or not.

I thought the bosses were too easy to defeat.

The parts of the game where you are moving in a vehicle are a little too easy. I almost could swear that if I were to have put down the controller during those parts of the game, I would still have been able to successfully complete them. Yes, I'm exaggerating, but they were too easy. To me they felt more just like a cut-scene with minimal gameplay elements.

I wish more emphasis was placed on stealth and being forced to study enemy patterns using your radar to determine the proper course of action to complete the section, kind of like the first game in the series.

Story- 8/10 The story is made beautiful by the cut-scenes. I really think they are beautiful. I remember when I finished early NES games and thought they were boring mostly because there was nothing really interesting to see upon completing levels or the whole game. You won't feel like that here.

My only problem with the story is it's complicated, and I'm still not sure I clearly understand what happened. Too much time is spent in the cut-scenes explaining events in the series. If you aren't an old fan, it's hard to follow. There are too many factions, parties, and characters in the game's history.

There are also some hilarious jokes that really made me laugh out loud.

I think it's funny/nice to include health advice (although I never followed it) during installation of different parts of the game. The advice even changes according to the real time of day.

Sound- 10/10 The sound and music is great. What else can I say?

Replay Value- 9/10 I'm sure it would be fun to complete the game using different tactics, such as relying only upon non-lethal methods.

Online NA/10- It's there, but I haven't tried it yet. I don't know how the community is either. If someone knows if there is an active community, please post.

Overall- 9/10 MGS4 is a great game that no one should miss.

I can't wait for the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection this November.
MGS4 is indeed one of the best games ever made, I'm still waiting for a special edition!

I don't know where the best place to say this would be, but I really wish that review sites/magazines would give sequels two overall scores for a game. One score for those who have never played any games in the sequel's series and another score for the newcomer. The problem is that some games are improvements over the previous games in a series but they get a lower score just because the game is too similar to what preceded it. The improvements don't help raise the game's score in the reviewer's opinion. Yet, if a newcomer to the series were to play the game, he'd enjoy it because it at least deserves the same score as the game preceding it in the series (as long as the game hasn't degraded in any aspect from its predecessor). Newcomers include people who recently bought a console or bought only the 3rd game in a series and will still enjoy the 4th (never having experienced the first or second game). Newcomers include younger gamers who weren't around when the older games were around.

That's just my opinion. True, it may make reviews more complicated, but I think it makes sense.

Finally, just some quick comments on Uncharted 2. The game was fun. I don't want to rate all points, but one aspect of the gameplay I thought was annoying. The game has both third person shooter elements (which worked great, the battles were fun) and platforming elements. I thought the platforming elements were implemented in a manner almost making it way too easy. Sometimes I felt as if the game was pushing me forward to just grab the edge of a ledge, Drake almost appeared to be pushed forward a few pixels to grab something, every time I almost "missed." I should have died many times where I didn't die. I think I only died 2 or 3 times in the game because of a wrong jump (and I'm not the best platform gamer). If platforming is meant to be part of the gameplay and experience, I think it should be part of the challenge. Otherwise it almost feels like a movie and that you are just being pushed along to watch. Neither should it be too hard, but of moderate difficulty and challenge. The platforming in inFamous was much better and closer to the proper inclusion of this aspect in the actual game experience. Platforming was essential in (some of) the underground sewer missions and the uplink side missions.

SPOILER (JUST IN CASE): The final boss (I'm not saying who nor how to defeat him, so this shouldn't be considered a spoiler) was frustrating to beat at normal difficulty. I heard that he was easier to defeat at harder difficulties, but I didn't try. Supposedly it has something to do with your attacks being more powerful at harder difficulties, but I'm not sure if that's true.

    Fallout 3

I never completed Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (most of those 150 hours spent went by extending my silverware collection or stealing the clothes of npc's to create funny looking towns) so i didn't know what to expect regarding the length of the game. Though the main plot isn't as long as i would have wanted it to be the game manages to keep you entertained with numerous side-quests and tons of places to explore.

The story takes you through a variety of interesting and scaring places all with an interesting story and interesting characters without ever becoming repetitive. It is fun and it is different from the games i usually play though the real beauty of fallout 3 lies in everything beyond the main quest.
You get to do quests that don't really make sense but are fun and feel fresh, quests that concentrate on something very different that would not fit among the main quests. These quests takes you to interesting places such as old factories, shops, towns etc. all (most) with an interesting history. They have given me gaming moments that i will never forget.

    Story - 8
Completing the game and putting an end to the story didn't give me the satisfying feel i was hoping for but it did take me to a variety of interesting places. It wasn't the unfolding of the story that drove me to play the game but rather the geographical locations it took me to and situations it put me into. Breaking out of the enemy head-quarters, retreiving some important device from an underground maze packed with mutants and the like is what i'll remember of this game.

    Sound - ??
Don't know what to rate really. Can't say much about the quality of the sound.
I thought the voice acting was good. A few more voice actors wouldn't hurt, and i wouldn't need to hear the same voices all the time.

    Gameplay FPS/TPS - 4
I remember someone complaining about the controls and i agree. The aiming makes it hard to play this game as an FPS, it's jerky and makes it very hard to perform "finer" aiming. I still have trouble with lining a headshot and confess that i would have played on easy if it wasn't for the V.A.T.S.
(though getting a super mutant overlords head to explode after firing ~30 sniper rounds is quite fun)

    Gameplay RPG - 9

    Replay value - 9
    Two reasons:
    1) The main quests aren't that many and don't take very long to do.
    2) The PERK system provides the player with different styles of play.

    Graphics - 7
The game got released 2008 and i finished it just recently, i don't know what games to compare it to. It doesn't look bad but isn't pretty either.

    Overall - 10
The enjoyment of exploring this game offers easily obscures the flaws it has. I strongly recommend this game though i know there are many who doesn't like this game at all. I like RPG's, looting and exploring and i love this game, bravo Bethesda.

    Shadows of the Damned

    Graphics 8/10-
Looks pretty good but not great. Cool environments though.

    Story 8.5/10-
The characters in this game is where it stands out. Garcia Hotspur is a blockheaded demon hunter but he does his job very well, Demon Hunter. So well the lord of the underworld, Fleming, abducts his girlfriend Paula to the underworld for revenge for him killing all his demons. Johnson, Garcia's demon gun, is by his side to help guide him through the underworld. Garcia must travel the underworld to find his dear Paula. It is a very solid story. But the game is on the lighter side of things with lots of sex jokes, cursing, and hilarious backstories for almost all the bosses. All this mixes to make this game very interest throughout.

    Sound 8.5/10
    - As far as the sound in the game goes it is pretty mediocre as far as guns and explosions sound. But the voiceacting in this game is pretty good. In any other game it would be corny and odd but with this game it fits perfect with the tone of the game. Not to be taken too serious. The actors aren't terrible they are pretty good but the dialogue is just one joke after another. Very entertaining.

Gameplay 9/10- This game uses the same shooting system as RE4 but your character seems to get around much smoother than in that game. This is because RE4's creator was along side Suda 51 to make this one. The guns are all fun to use and get upgraded frequently throughout so you never really get tired of them. The only gripe that I had was that at times the aiming seemed a bit touchy but you get used to it shortly into the game. Like all the other aspects of the game, the guns even make their way into the jokes as well. With names like Teethgrinder, a gun that shoots teeth like a machinegun, the Hot Boner, your primary pistol.

Replay Value 7.5/10- There isn't really much to make you go backthrough but since I enjoyed the game so much. I wouldn't have any problem going back through and playing it on a higher difficulty.

Overall 8.5/10- This game is not meant to be serious, it is one of the lighter games that I have every played. Right up there with old Duke Nukems. This mixed with a just flatout fun game to play makes for a very entertaining experience. This game flew right under the radar. But if any of this sounds fun to you, give this game a shot. I did and I'm very glad that I did.

I would give the game a score of 7/10. The game does have it faults but it is fun, they should of added competitive multiplayer like team deathmatch and CTF etc etc as doing the same missions gets a tad boring. So for Brink 2 I would like to see competitive multiplayer and higher ranks

    Brink

Graphics 8/10- Comic style graphics make the game look smooth.

    Story 7/10-
The fact that you can play the same story from the PoV of both sides was very cool, but the missions are very repetitive. Exp earned any game mode (multiplayer, single player, challenges) goes toward leveling up which is a plus.

Gameplay 6/10- Both the single player campaign and multiplayer modes are very repetitive. I was getting major lag in about half of the multiplayer games I joined. All gameplay in this game is team based. If you don't work with you're team you're not really gonna get anywhere, and if you play single player, the CPU on your team doesn't do **** to help you. The guns and equipment were decent, and I liked what they were trying to do with the skill points, but none of the skills made a huge difference.

    Replay Value 5/10-
I might revisit this game to gather a few more trophies, but it will probably get traded in soon.

    Overall 6/10-
Brink has a refreshing concept, but the game is repetitive and bland.

    Duke Nukem Forever

DUKE NUKEM FOREVER (PS3 VERSION) 1.1

Graphics- 6/10 I say the graphics are acceptable for this generation, considering the development hell that the game went through it still looks fairly good in this day and age. it's not the prettiest game.

Gameplay- 7/10 Controls felt solid, levels and environments were well designed and the game played like a duke nukem game should, at times environments felt clunky and at other times they felt smooth, it's a mix of good and bad. At first I didn't like the EGO life indicator, but as the game played through it made perfect sense and worked well e.g. when you kill someone your ego restores a little, when you hide you can rest etc. etc.

Story - 5/10 It's the same Duke Story as all the other games, but it's not the story I'm playing the game for, it's the alien ass kicking and puzzle solving that kept me wanting to play more and more.

Sound- 5/10 The soundtrack is stock standard, good surround effects but nothing mind blowing in the audio department.

Replay Value- 6/10, there's plenty of reasons to go back and play the game again with trophies on offer I'm sure most will go back and play through to obtain that platinum trophy on offer. Other than that I found the first half of the game boring, it started getting better towards the end and then you're kind of left with a mediocre ending.

Online 6/10 there's not much I love about the multi-player I'm always getting my ass kicked by someone who's spent 40 hours plus playing online and studying everything they can to kill noobs like me. nothing compelling about online it's standard experience is just like every other game you've played before.

Overall- 6/10 It isn't the greatest game ever built, but it was still fairly enjoyable, for some strange reason in the middle of gun fights with aliens and pigs I found myself doing stupid things like playing with telephones and trying to drink cans of soda lol I got no idea why but it was funny as hell in hard mode.

I am really hoping that new levels or an expansion pack of some sort could be released in downloadable content form in the future, there's probably only going to be new multiplayer maps or character costumes, but an added story or a set of mini games would be great.. fingers crossed some new exciting content is added soon or better yet a sequel.

People have to remember no DUKE NUKEM GAME is going to get a good rating from a game reviewer because his character and history of games is flawed to hell, remember they don't rate games based on just graphics, sound and gameplay, they base their reviews on characters and story as well

Great review. The game was indeed very interesting, though not hard. The full facade of Duke Nukem came out with this revamp, and it was wonderful, even with the gameplay hickups and graphical inconsistencies. But, that's not really why anyone plays Duke Nukem anyway :P

It's quite scary how fun and addictive this game is, I found everything in the BETA to be more than I could ask for or want in a game, it's soooo goood... I think I might cream my pants when I play the full multiplayer and from the videos I've seen of the story mode the game looks amazing, how does naughtydog code their software so well... trips me out

I really sorry but I have to disagree, I have been playing video games for nearly twenty years now and this game is possibly the worst game I ever had the mis fortune of playing! The graphics are poor the sound is non existent, and the gameplay dont get me started. And to think this game was in development for years, I cant believe it actually passed as a PS3 game, Im just glad I hired it and didnt shell out £40 quid for it!

Each to their own I suppose.

Finally played Modnation Racers after having it for over a year and I give it an 8/10.Really good and creative game.Just started to get into LBP2 after buying it when it first came out and the game is fantastic s I give it an 9.5/10 for it's design, features and creativity. Both games are fun to play and have lots of color with charm which is missing this generation.
