Any news on the battery life? Thats my biggest concern plus the cost of it. If the battery life is something like 2-4 hours, its a pass from me.

Ok, with a quad core, you pretty have to have a minimum of 1GB or else the rest of the system would probably bottleneck the system. I'd have to say anywhere between 1GB and 2GB of RAM. I mean, this **** can probably power a laptop better than the Motorola Atrix can, which has a dual core and 1GB of RAM in it to run sort of like a laptop/netbook.

Thanks VENGEFUL_BLUR for the avatar and spyrde for the sig!

I'm not so sure I entirely agree.. I hope you're right and 1GB is included, but I don't think a Quad ARM requires it per se.
We'll see though!

Anyone know the data size of those flash carts? I'd say 2GB ish for launch titles and 8 - 16 later in it's life. To me it looks like a reshaped SD card.

specs kinda
picsSony formally revealed the heavily-rumored PSP2 in Japan today.
The device has been codenamed NGP for "next generation portable." It is set for release by the end of 2011. Pricing information was not provided.

NGP will use a new game medium, a small flash memory based card, dedicated for NGP software titles. The cards will store full game titles and add-on game content or save data. Sony notes that they'll be able to provide higher capacity cards in the future to allow developers to sore more game data.
the NGP contains a touch screen on top and a touch pad on the bottom. This will allow players to interact with games through "touch, grab, trace, push and pull" moves of the fingers.

Here are the hardware specs:
CPU: ARM Corte-A9 core (4 core)
GPU: SGX543MP4+
External Dimensions:
Approx. 182.0 x 18.6 x 83.5mm (width x height x depth) (tentative, excludes largest projection)
Screen: (Touch screen) 5 inches (16:9), 960 x 544, Approx. 16 million colors, OLED Multi touch screen (capacitive type)
Rear touch pad: Multi touch pad (capacitive type)
Cameras:
Front camera, Rear camera
Sound:
Built-in stereo speakers
Built-in microphone
Sensors:
Six-axis motion sensing system (three-axis gyroscope, three-axis accelerometer), Three-axis electronic compass
Location
Built-in GPS
Wi-Fi location service support
Keys/Switches:
PS button
Power button
Directional buttons (Up/Down/Right/Left)
Action buttons (Triangle, Circle, Cross, Square)
Shoulder buttons (Right/Left)
Right stick, Left stick
START button, SELECT button
Volume buttons (+/-)
Wireless communications:
Mobile network connectivity (3G)
IEEE 802.11b/g/n (n = 1x1)
(Wi-Fi) (Infrastructure mode/Ad-hoc mode)
Bluetooth 2.1+EDR (A2DP/AVRCP/HSP)

looks thin to me...

This is sooo sweet! It's more feature packed then I ever could have imagined!
Quick thought: Maybe tapping the left or right side of the pad on the back will work as L2 and R2 in games.Last edited by mickice; 01-27-2011 at 08:19.

A 3G plus WiFI, GPS, 5 inch OLED device with dual analog? Trophy system? Visuals that are less detailed than the PS3? and a group of team developers that include: Grassopper, IREM, Level 5, Namco Bandai, Square Enix, Ubisoft, 2k Games, and Rockstar who eagerly want to support the system with their games? A device where you play and pause a PS3 game and resume it on the device?
Am I dreaming? please tell me.Last edited by Eltimas; 01-27-2011 at 08:33.

Very impressed with what I saw with the PSP2/NGP. Actually, the whole NGP makes me think they wont call it the PSP2 after all. Everyone expected it to be called the PSP2 since that is what Sony has done with the Playstation and it's predecessors, so why use a code word for it if you are just going to call it that? I personally think they will go a different route when naming it that isn't numbered, like what they did with the PSP GO. I guess we will see though.
Anyways, everything I saw made me very interested in it, and I am pretty convince I will get it. I'm hoping the price is $300 or less. The visuals are impressive and if we can get a PS3 comparable experience on a portable device, that would be absolutely amazing. I really like the idea of what Hideo Kojima said, of having a game that you can play of both systems, so when your home you can play on you PS3 and tv, and when you are not home you can play it on your PSP2. So yeah, I am very excited about the PSP2 and I can't wait to hear more about it!
