I didn't see any threads or talk of it so I wasn't sure if anyone watched it or not. My roommate and I did and it was fairly interesting between the awards and the host, RICKY GERVAIS!
Host first, Ricky made some awesome cracks on the show and the people. I think they shut him up by the end as he was going pretty much by the book.
As for the awards, The Social Network made out the best taking Best Score, Best Screenplay, and Best Picture.

Anyone watch the Golden Globes?

The Social Network is overrated.
I'm happy Bale won, even I liked Renner in the The Town, too.
Ya know, I was reading the comments sections of ComingSoon.net's Golden Globe report and it's like mainstream audiences think The Social Network is overrated and Inception is this brilliant film of the year.
I try to respect people's individual opinions but as a group I feel like this is the typical mainstream audience issue. The blockbuster film is cool and the semi-independent film is lame.
I don't think people understand the real value of the movie. It's not just some story about the creation of the website facebook. It's in the dialogue, the script, of the characters, their interactions, and their arcs.
Inception didn't have the character development or the emotion of The Social Network (which was very subtle but it is there).
This is my opinion but every time I watch The Social Network I realize how great it is. From the cinematography to the script, and even the editing and acting. Overall its a better executed film.
I'm honestly surprised Inception was even nominated for Best Picture considering the other possible choices: The Kids Are Alright, 127 Hours, True Grit, and Blue Valentine.

Lol @ Inception being under drama. It's a badass sci-fi movie. Glad Sons of Anarchy won something. But I think Dexter should have won again instead of boardwalk empire.
Buy The Social Network on Bluray, watch the extras, and then come back and say it's overrated. Best made film this year, works on every level, is extremely precise, and efficient. Mainstream movie goers can continue to hate on it in favor of blockbusters with half a brain (INCEPTION), but it doesn't really matter.I hope you enjoy what you see!
Take Stewie's advice and listen to the commentaries.

I'm disappointed that 127 hours didn't win anything. That movie was great, and that is an understatement. I haven't watched a movie that made me feel that connected to a character in a long time. Never saw Social Network only because I was never interested in it. I'm not doubting that it's not a good movie I just never really had much interest in it. I will get around to watching it one day soon.
But James Franco's performance was phenomenal but I haven't seen The King's Speech either so can't comment on Firth's performance.
