PS2 - Would you pick another one up?

Say your like me, you have a PS2 somwhere but certain parts are missing, say the AV cable, the controller etc.

The thing is I have a stack of great games; FFX, X2, XII (Meh), Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, Ico, SoTC, MGS2 & 3 and the list goes on that I really want to play again but I can't!

Would you be tempted to buy another PS2 and how much would you pay for one?

Or have you already picked another PS2 up and want to recommend some games for it then let me know.

I say go for it.

There are still loads of great games I've got to play through on PS2. Even though it's becoming an old beast, it's still a very playable console.

Having a PS2 is the only way to play the greatest game of all-time, FFX. So yes, I would buy one again just for that game.

Yeah anyone who is thinking about it should, since they are so cheap now and are still being manufactured.
I still have mine hooked up to the same TV as my PS3, but am tempted to buy another just in case it dies. lol

They selling used for about $50 now. i would pay that for it and pick up a few games.

Definitely. Just for SotC alone.

As with DarkVincent07, my PS2, (along with several other systems), is still hooked up and gets plenty of play time. Great console, great games.

I would rebuy the PS2 in a heartbeat. I thought about it several times this past year. I would have to get an older and smaller CRT tv to play it however. PS3 games do not look right on large/HD tv's.

If SONY re-released the PS2 with some sort of upscale and HDMI i'd but another one right now.

If my PS2 AV cable/controller was missing, I'd probably just buy another AV cable/controller rather than buy the whole console again

SCEE haven't been selling PS2s for ages. If they were still selling them now, I'd definitely pick one up and try to find some of the gems that I missed last generation.

omg...if Sony sold a "ps2" that basically emulated any game you put in the disc drive, and ran them at 1080p and 60fps...I'd pay quite a bit for that.

But yeah I have an old ps2 that's in rough shape so I do expect to buy a PS2 one day. I know that years from now I'll wanna hook it up.

YES! I totally would. atm I have a slim but bothe controllers are gone! (little bro and sis each have their own PS2s and broke their controller so while I'm away at college they took mine a well.. ) But love R&C! among other titles

I have a chipped slim PS2, I can use a hack to run some games in a faked HD but it's nothing special.

Both my PS3 and PS2 from launch still work fine. I will do what, Tyrien said and buy another if they ever discontinue it just in case. Heck I might end up buying 2 for security sake(I did the same with the PSOne, they're in my closet covered in plastic wrap).

I wouldn't, since the idea was to get a PS3 and be able to play PS1, PS2 and PS3 games.

But if I didn't have a backwards compatible PS3, and wanted to play some PS2 classics I see no reason not to get one.

For me, I would just get the parts and hand it down to someone, or play a few games or two. Its still a great system up till today, so I see no reason to just leave it hanging.

Black Ps2 slim, official memory card, Dual Shock 2, all the cables, 2 games. £48.

Now i can play:
