    Al Pacino vs Robert DeNiro

Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro are arguably two of the greatest actors of our time (and before our time), but which one do you think is the better actor? I have an ongoing debate, with my friends and sometimes myself, about who's the better actor: Al Pacino or Robert DeNiro. Everybody seems to like one more than they like the other for their own reasons. I hope that when you respond, you state the reason why you think one is better than the other.

    For example:
Al Pacino stared in The Godfather. He was the main character in both The Godfather Part 1 and 2, and Robert Deniro only came to act in The Godfather Part 2 when The Godfather was already famous and proclaimed one of the best movies of all time; my point being that it was Al Pacino that made The Godfather famous, DeNiro came after the hype.

Now I know some of you would disagree, but why?....

Some pictures of the two greats...

The only image of the two actors together on screen, from the movie "Heat"

The two actors today. Wow! Al Pacino looks scary. I won't remember him like this.

Say hello to his little friend! That's right, its Al Pacino's scarface.

He'll make you an offer you can't refuse, it's Robert DeNiro.

Which one is the better actor? Which one do you like more? Why?...

I'd say Robert DeNiro. I've grown up watching his films. I respect the man a lot. He also starred in one of my favourite films of all time: Ronin, with another awesome actor, Jean Reno.
I'm tired of the Killzone 2 hate. Attacking the game and calling it mediocre because it doesn't do anything different is absolutely ridiculous, because games like Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, Gears of War and many others are given free passes to high scores and critical praise from everyone despite the FACT that they do nothing different either. Killzone 2 should not be thrown to the curb.

Oh man, Al Pacino. That is because I just love his movies: The Godfather, Scarface, The Recruit.
Al Pacino is one of the best actors in the world in my opinion.

Love both of them but if pressed id go for DeNiro

For me has had a bit more of a range than Pacino career wise and has more truely amazing performances than Pacino:

Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, Godfather 2, Gooodfellas, This Boys Life, Heat, Deer Hunter, Casino, Raging Bull.... quality actor

Pacino. Smack down easy. He kicked ass in movies like Scarface, Heat, Insomnia, The Godfathers, and Carlitos Way. He's gonna be the villan in Ocean's 13.

DeNiro's career has faded a bit this time around, but I'm looking forward to the The Good Shepard, in which he directs and co-stars. He had some of the best movies of the 20th century, though.

The decision is very hard. Both.
Resistance 2, KillZone 2, WarDevil, MGS4, God Of War 3, Final Fantasu XIII, White Knight Chronicles, Gran Turismo 5, and a alot more, how can 2008 not be the PS3's year.

I think Al Pacino's intensity on the screen is unparalleled. In the movie "Heat" when he's questioning a suspect, yelling "Whaddya got?!" Thats intensity. When he's fighting with his wife about the TV is another great intense Al Pacino moment.

Doesn't Pacino looked cracked out in this pic? And his teeth are yellow as a school bus.

    How about now?

    Yeah, I'm bored.

When I was younger I used to confuse these two actors because they were in such similar movies.

I would say Robert DeNiro, mainly because I feel he is an actor that can play many more parts than Pacino and also in some cases, has a more sense of humor than him, so I would go with DeNiro.

Al Pacino was in Scarface and Carlito's Way which are two great movies but I think Robert DeNiro is the better actor.

I think they each have their own unique style. Deniro has that laid back, ''I'm going to wack you'' famous smirk as well as actually blending into the character. He just makes it amazingly natural. Al Pacino brings liveliness and intensity to the movies. He makes you think he is a mad man, he makes you believe him. It is very hard to pick a better actor as the each has starred in legendary memorable movies as well as memorable movie scenes. There both my favorite.

Pacino does seem to get the more outlandish roles recently. DeNiro can turn on that stoic quiet commanding presence whenever he wishes. I don't want to admit it to myself, but I think DeNiro is the better actor by a hair. But I just love Al Pacino's roles!

I must say, the way Al Pacino played the role in the Godfather is just amazing. No one else could have done it that way!
Lol, just 2 months ago I found out that Al Pacino isn't his real name. It is Alfredo Pacino, I get why he changed his actors name into Al.

FYI, he didn't really change his name. Al is short for Alfred. It's like saying Tom is short for Tommy.

My favorite role that Pacino played in would have to be Godfather. He played a laid back character as apposed to most of his other movies. I also liked him in Recruit because he was really deceitful.

Al Pacino has always been my favorite actor. But I always liked both, and like PBM I would mix up the actors when I was young. But it seems like most of Pacino's films are also my favorite.

If anyone's seen "Heat" then Al Pachino comes out the winner anyways.
