Ive got an Athlon 64 3000+ socket 754, with an Asus motherboard, I am 90% sure it has an 800mhz FSB, an Nvidia 5900 Fx w/256mb memory, and 512 mb Ram. Let's not discuss my HDD size, its so pathetic.

Xbox 360 What? PS3 for life, or until PS4 comes out, whichever comes first. My PS2 is still my baby, though. Oh yea, go and listen to Soundgarden, Korn, Tool, Mudvayne, Godsmack, or Metal Church

03-16-2006 #277Why not? I told what mine was and I didn't hide it. It's 40 GB right now but that is a upgrade from 1.5 GB Hard Drive :P . Can you even think how small that would really be? You can't store 1 full movie on it unless you were crazy for space!

I replaced my motherboard with an MSI 945GM2-F LGA775 DDR2,
Celeron D 336
2X Corsair 512mb PC-4200
I had to cheap out on the processor because I was broke & needed my PC back up asap. I went intel because Semepron are only a 754 socket so its an expensive upgrade to an 939 Athlon.
I plan to get a Pentium D and better graphics card when I get bit more cash.
Although im undecided ,i don't really play that man PC games anymore so i may get a 23" LCD & HDTV tuner instead.

What do you suggest, guys? 2GB of DDR2 RAM in 4 '512MB' sticks, or 2GB of DDR2 RAM in 2 '1GB' sticks? The motherboard I'm planning on getting has 4 slots but can handle up to 4GB. Does the configuration really matter?

if ur motherboard max's out at 4gb's then id just get the 2 X 1gb sticks (if u have the $$) cause itll be easiest to upgrade down the road. i knowi dont have the $ for that but more power to ya dude!

04-02-2006 #286No worries. The RAM upgrade is coming along with a mobo upgrade too. It supports DDR2 667. I'm trying to find good, low latency, cheap RAM. I'm working on budget here. Any suggestions for below $250?

I have for school a Gateway laptop it's got a
Pentium 4 with hyperthreading 3.06 ghz procesor
512 megs of ram
80 gig hard drive
15.4 inch ultra bright screen
a 64 meg graphics card (built in so it sucks)
a dvd burner
I'm in the process of getting a new computer to play games on ... it won't be top of the line by any means but i can upgrade
AMD Athlon 3200+ processor
with 1 gig of memory running at 400mhz
Dvd Burner
Hard drive probably 100 gig but i don't care as long as i can fit some games on it
probably a ATI X1300 video card
And for a screen i have a 20 inch flat screen LCD t.v. hear at home that i don't use, was going to plug it into that lolGIVE ME A PLACE TO STAND, AND I WILL MOVE THE WORLD

The total price for those two items at newegg is $230 and even on ebay at least $200
The trick to getting a good deal is to search for model of different parts you are interested not the ddr2, lga775, that sort of stuff. You can find a lot of auctions like that that aren't labeled well (just the model not the stuff people search for), then put in your bid in the last 30 seconds and get quality stuff for less than half there total value.

I have an Asus motherboard base with and AMDxp 3400 processor, a 180gb hd, and a really old 7gb hd I scavenged from an old computer (I use it for back-up), and 1 gb of ram which I’m planning to increase at some point. I built in myself for around $800. I did a whole lot of research and chose a 256mb ATI instead of nVidea even though it was more expensive because I thought it work better for me. No complaints so far! I saved on the OS because I was able to get a semi-legal copy of XPprofessional from my work.

my computer is a compaq that has been upgraded a lot..
Celeron D 2.93 GHz. Processor
A no good mobo with only pci slots
1 gig of pc2700 ram
ATI Radeon Diamond 9250 ( about the best i could get with just pci)
80 gig ide hard drive
400 gig sata hard drive
DVD+-dual layer burner
17 inch NEC LCD
its plays my games pretty good. I play Call of Duty at extra settings in 1280*1024 and it looks great

04-05-2006 #293The PSU is an Antec Phantom 500 it was fine, it looks like the fan on the northbridge died, when the board fried it was running a huge load on it plus it was a really warm day.

90 degrees C is insanely hot even if it were to cut it off. if my cpu gets hotter than 65 or 70 C i have mine set to shut down and i think 50 or 55 for the mobo. they say anything above 50 C is bad news.

This is also not a bad setup for someone who wants to build a new computer. That's probably one of the best value you can get for that amount of money spent, it took me months to decide on these things.
