Very nice set up. 18 GBs ram? Is it like you have 3 slots and each contains 6 Gbs? Cause most set ups have like 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64.

Alright, cause I thought 18 was kinda strange. My system also has 16 Gbs ram. Majority of it is sitting idle most of the time though.

A bit over kill for Sims isn't it?

Waiting for a 2TB drive to format is a pain, I started it about 15:00 and its till only at 63%

Bought a new PSU today (along with a 2TB drive) and joined the modular club finally.
I forget when I bought it exactly (had it easyliy 5 years) but it as when PC Power & cooling were good. At the time I bought it many PSU manufacturers were spouting garbage about how many 12V rails they have but these bad boys only had 1 large one. I wanted a single rail configuration because I ran into problems with a previous PSU that had multiple 12V rails, I had to balance the loads of the GPU and hard drives between them at the time I bought it not many GPU cards had special connectors and used the regular Molex connectors.

This PSU cables are much superior but some are too long, especially the PCI express for the GPU, its about 6 inches too long.

Surprisingly my old PSU is larger.

You might be able to fix that Samsun monitor for about $20 if you still have it.

FYI the high end air CPU coolers cool just as good as a H80i and are quieter.

Yeah it was with the system and the other alternatives didn't seem great. As it's my first pc I didn't want to spend big money just to have a go myself so I though get the closest to what I want and let the pros do it. What would you recommend instead? It seems like an easy start for when I do start fiddling.

I went to the extreme and bought the Noctua NH-D14 which is MASSIVE and costs about the same as a H80i.
Noctua brought out the NH-D15 recently which is even bigger and with better quieter fans but costs more.

Cheers, that cooler seems to be the one everyone is saying to get. Don't think it's needed right away though? Had to pay it all up front cost be 1600 all in but I had to start from scratch and I've ended up with table chair everything else and a few games it's a costly one off. Really looking forward to starting into pc gaming now, I hadn't even heard of modding games till about a month ago and coming from console I just though it was all some kind of dlc. Strange times ahead for a 34 year old haha

The H80i will be fine in terms of temperatures, just it will be quite loud.
Mods can be fun, Steam has a lot of them and I think you can play them for free even if you do not own a Source engined game.
If you want I can gift you Half Life 2 and Half Life 2 episode 1 for free. I have had the gift for a couple of years but everyone I know already has it.

Oh and by the way there is Battlefield 3 for free which you might as well get, offer end June 3rd.

I'm thinking of picking up a new HDD for use as a Linux boot, the question is which HDD to get. Also I'm thinking of getting rid of my 3D 120Hz triple monitor setup for about 200 excluding P&P so if anyone is interested. I have a spare 24" 1920x1200 monitor to use for the time being as I'll eventually want to pick up a new graphics card and a 4K DP1.2a monitor, or maybe one of those new super wide monitors.
