1 are you sure it was devins? His youtube is poopynugetteer...yes i know the name...but i swear its his.
2 City is a solid album, you have some incredible songs on that album like "all hail the new flesh" and "AAA" are both amazing. Its a bit too manic though. Its heavy as all hell, its brutal and has amazing songs but it really is chaotic.

I havn't listened to it yet. I'm prob gonna wait til i get the album. I have heard a few songs though. "Back where we belong" via a youtube video he released a while back. "Lucky Animals" and the new version of "kingdom" through his "By a Thread" live DVDs. I'm a great fan of Kingdom in the live version. Everybody is just rocking out so hard.
BTW, if somebody is looking for some very Dream Theater-esque prog metal, I suggest you check out Nine by Circus Maximus. I think you guys will enjoy it. If you're a long time DT listener i think you'll find great comfort in this album. I've drifted away from the virtuoso guitar stuff and prog metal bands just because i find it kind of overtly cheesy, but i'll still listen. This is probably the best song off the album.

Here are the latest four Metal albums I listened to...
Strapping Young Lad - The New Black

Genre: Progressive Metal, Thrash Metal
Released: 2006
Rating: 4/5
Similar to their self-titled album, this is strong the entire way through yet doesn't really contain any spectacular songs. Overall, this album is a bit more restrained and more tuneful than usual for this band, which some may prefer.
Cryptopsy - None So Vile

Genre: Technical Death Metal, Brutal Death Metal
Released: 1996
Rating: 4.5/5
Considered one of the definitive Death Metal albums, this did not disappoint me. Even though the vocals don't really add much to the experience (for me at least), everything else about these songs are just so impressive. This album manages to be extremely brutal, yet technically interesting the entire time. And while some may argue the songs here are too similar, the album is short enough to not overstay its welcome.
Queensrÿche - Operation: Mindcrime

Genre: Progressive Metal, Heavy Metal
Released: 1988
Rating: 4.5/5
If Iron Maiden added a narrative to one of their 80s albums, this would be the result. Certainly not a bad thing by any means, as that's basically what Queensrÿche does here to create one of the most influential Progressive Metal albums of all time. Most of the core songs are just well executed NWOBHM songs, while some nice interludes and an interesting narrative are sprinkled throughout.
Beherit - Drawing Down The Moon

Genre: Black Metal, Dark Ambient
Released: 1993
Rating: 3/5
If you're into quirky and obscure Black Metal, this album is for you. Beherit mix Black Metal, Doom Metal, and Dark Ambient to create some pretty unique songs. However, a good portion of this album is rather standard and skip-able, but you'll still find some very groovy and atmospheric songs. Definitely an interesting album, even if it's not executed perfectly the entire way through.Last edited by Ixion; 09-10-2012 at 20:33.

I don't know if I got this band directly from this thread or from one of the websites you mentioned Ix, but they are amazing. This song is from their newest album - which I've heard a good 20 times now. Just got the rest of their albums and am about to give them a listen. So much talent I don't even know what genre they would be

Disarmonia Mundi is Melodic Death Metal. They even have the same singer as Soilwork. And similar to Soilwork, they have some Metalcore influences, primarily the cleanly sung choruses.

If you guys have never heard of Pro-Pain I would advise checking them out if you like simple but head banging riffage!

I've always had a lot of Ozzy songs, but now I've finally listened to the albums...
Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard Of Ozz

Genre: Heavy Metal, Hard Rock
Released: 1980
Rating: 4/5
Half of this album consists of some of Ozzy's best and most memorable songs, while the other half is solid classic metal, but nothing too special. The intro to "Mr. Crowley" is such a cool moment, that I wish Ozzy explored that sound more on this album.
Ozzy Osbourne - Diary Of A Madman

Genre: Heavy Metal, Hard Rock
Released: 1981
Rating: 4/5
Randy Rhoads' guitar playing is more developed and less raw here. Every song is very solid, so this is more consistant than its predecessor, but the album never quite reaches the heights of the debut.
Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears
Genre: Heavy Metal, Hard Rock
Released: 1991
Rating: 4/5
Zakk Wylde makes this a bit heavier and more modern than the first two albums I listened to. Since this album sports more songs than the other two, some of the songs, while still good, feel a bit unnecessary. However, this album also includes some of Ozzy's best work, such as the title track, which is my personal favorite Ozzy song.

Between the Buried and Me premiered a new video for their upcoming album due out early Roctober. It is really deep in the proggy weeds and features some incredible cataclysmic events for the Earth. Must watch.

I'm on my first listen of Between the Buried and Me's Parallax II, but so far I'm really liking it.

Yeah, I saw my ENT a couple weeks ago and he just said to wear ear plugs for a few days and give them a rest. But that didn't do anything. I'm going to a dental specialist this saturday though to see if I have TMJ, which is where your ear/jaw nerve hurts, you have ringing, and dizziness (which I all have), due to teeth grinding. Let's see if that's the problem. Perhaps I'm grinding my teeth and that's sustaining the issues.
