Wifi help?

Hey, I need helping finding out the password to the other wifi connection in the house. Its my brother's wifi, and its a lot closer then mine which is like at 20%. So is there any way to find out the password using some free software or something? I'll give out rep, and sp to working info. thanks

Hes an *******, hes usually the one that locks/hacks/and breaks my computer. Thats why I need an alternative method.

If the encryption method is wep there might be a way. Otherwise it isn't possible. Why can't you use an Ethernet cable?

Cause the ethernet cable is used to provide the wifi for us. Not sure how it all works like that.

Pretty sure its a wep.

Hard reset it, reconfigure the security, set your brothers back up so it works (all this happens while he's not around). As long as he's still connected, he won't notice, and then you'll have the security info to setup your machine.



Of course that all assumes you can reconfigure the WiFi AP/router.

There's a Linux distro built for this purpose I just can't remember the name of it right now, Google around maybe you'll find it. Had to use it in school a few years back.

EDIT: BackTrack*is the name of it.

Ok, so I don't have any access to the router. I'm not even sure where it is.

Also, my brothers computer is always locked up good and tight. So what I'm really looking for is something that can remotely hack the password.

Use ethernet cable on the one you have acess to. 10Metre cables are cheap.

You could try a program called aircrack.

Anyway, if you can't get physical with your "brother's" computer, try Aircrack.

I think he means, login to the router (192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 usually in the address bar) and then get the password after logging into that.
