    I agree. There are times I'm spotting every single enemy and my teammates are still oblivious, still getting knifed and shot lol.

    MAV is like easy mode...you should never lose if someone is spotting enemies with the MAV...but it still happens.

    As you said though, Recon is worthless against vehicles but I feel that it's fair...because it makes you want to be more stealthy and your real job is more of a scout than anything else and this is the only online game I have ever played where scouting out the enemy ACTUALLY helps lol.

    I still don't like that support gets C4s...I think engineer should have this option. I feel like those AT4/RPGs are lame sometimes against tanks. I'd rather just sneak up and blow them up quickly....but I don't wanna run around with a bigass machine gun.

    I just got this game last week, is there a hardcore mode? It takes two magazines to kill a guy that's five feet away from you. I got so used to the gun play in BC2, now I'm having trouble hitting moving targets.

    Go to the Server Browser change the serach filter and check the Hardcore Box.

    Are you playing with the engineer class? I felt the same way in the beginning. I would suggest Support or Assault first.

    Servers are fucked today. I can only find 6 servers and I'm getting a decent connection. I have tried all other games online and they work fine.

    Quick q how many people here bought regular NA edition of BF3 and not LE?

    Sufi what is bets engi gun to use at first then what do you use always once you unlock it?


    Wow what a great game. I was worried with the loss of my irnv but man just means more control burst and more people spotting then ever. I saw a tank and 3 engi repairing and was like, nah no way I can suicide bomb this but f it, and killed them all and vehicle lol. Points racked up. Yes I always judge current score and how many I can kill before suicide bombing so I do not hurt team.

    Is there a rule of thumb for sniping and maybe what each notch in the crosshairs of like the 12x ballistic scope would equal in terms of meters? I've been attempting some sporadic long range sniping (500+ meters) and can't seem to peg down how I should be aiming.

    the M4A1 to me is the best Engineer gun, even after unlocking all the other weapons, i still went back to it...24 service stars

    I agree with YoungMullah88, M4A1 is the best engineer gun.

    Only reason I haven't been using it recently though because I wanted the suppressor on and M4A1 shows up on map even if you have the suppressor on.

    So I use AK47su because it's the only one that doesn't show up going suppressed.

    If you don't care about suppression then go with M4A1, it's very stable and works well at medium range.

    I also like SCAR but it only has 20 bullets, though it's very powerful. For me, this gun worked decent even at long range...but you'll mostly be fighting up close and it's tough to take out enemies long range unless you hit 'em a few times so no point in even trying to hit once or twice.

    Honestly I don't have a favorite in the engineer class...though one cool thing about the AKsu is that you can sorta go crazy with the trigger and still easy to control it. M4A1, while fast and accurate, is harder to control if you're trigger happy. You have to make sure you're aiming correct first or you will be stuck at one point (due to fast fire rate, the gun won't move if you're firing the entire magazine).

    Yea, I'm glad that IRNV was nerfed, it was way too easy and sort of made the game boring because whenever I felt pissed off, I'd just put that on and start killing...but then it wasn't fun because then I would run around, killin' people like the predator lol.

    There's definitely a rule of thumb for snipers but it's different for each weapon and it is different if you have a suppressor on. Suppressor on snipers isn't worth it, imo. Especially if you're sniping long range. The bullet drop is too much.

    Here's a rough estimate: The co-op sniper gun (M93R?) is imo the most accurate at long ranges...I could be wrong but I remember it being more accurate (meaning, less bullet drop).

    Then it's the MOD 11 (and the russian variant), then it's SV98, M98B and lastly SKS.

    Do check the M98B and SV98 yourself (I may be wrong about them) but I think it's roughly accurate.

    I'm not sure if you know this or not...but a good way to hit someone at long ranges is to firstly have a bipod...then set a point where you want to shoot. Then watch the bullet and see where it hits, basically the amount of distance it hit (either above or below) is how much you have to adjust to get a hit.

    If you can't tell where the bullet hit then assume the point where the bullet disappeared. I hope this helps.

    DICE has released a list of updates, fixes and tweaks which will be available in the upcoming PC patch, scheduled for release next week.

    Bugfixes:

    Fixed a problem with spawn timer now showing blue border on startup and lost spawn point.
    Fixed a problem where player who joined queuing on End of round got spawn screen stuck on screen, but unable to do anything with it untill next round loaded.
    Fixed a problem where camera would change to 3rd person on killcam when killcam was turned off in server settings
    Fixed stat references on several dogtags
    Fixed for surveillance ribbon not counting TUGS
    Fixed a missing combat area lines on the minimap for Grand Bazaar conquest small.
    Moved a tank spawn in US base on Caspian Border so it would not be destroyed by a falling tree.
    Fixed a problem where placing C4 with the russians soldier was playing US faction VO.
    Fixed a problem where TV guided missiles could be shot into its own helicopter and destroy it.
    Fixed a problem when attempting to fire lock on weapons without a target.
    Tweaked the chat, it should now be a bit easier to read.
    Fixed several vehicles that did not properly shoot rockets and guns towards their predictive sights.
    Fixed the G17 Supressed Laser not working properly.
    Added alternate HUD colors to help colorblinds.
    Added a network interpolation setting. This allows users with good bandwidth reduce latency, but might increase some stuttering. The user can find what works best for his connection by tweaking the slider.
    Increased the Spawn protection radius on TD.
    Fixed a problem with smoke on land vehicles, Missiles should now miss more often.
    Fixed a problem where users could end up with IRNV scope in any vehicle.
    Fixed a problem where player dies if vaulting over a ledge and into water while sprinting.
    Fixed several crashes and increased general stability.
    Fixed a problem where the user was unable to revive two players that have the bodies one over the other.
    Fixed so you can assign an axis and use as a digital input. This makes it possible for the player (on pc) to assign one of the sticks on a gameped to be used for throttle/brake.
    Fixed a problem with the Kill camera acting up when suiciding from parachute.
    Fixed air radar was showing to much. now lasertagged, heatsignature above threshold, enemy missiles and capture points are only visible on air radar.
    Fixed a problem where the game would enter a technical hang if the user pressed pause menu and tilde at the same time.
    Fixed a problem where you could get green flashes on screen.
    You can now reassign cycle weapons.
    Fixed so the weapon zooms automatically after bipod deploy is gone when using zoom toggle.
    Fixed a problem where the parachute would stay stuck in air if the owner was killed.

    Balance Tweaks:

    Fixed several weapons so they are properly suppressed and hide the player on the minimap when fired.
    Tweaked Tactical Light so it is not as blinding over longer ranges.
    Tweaked the IRNV scope so it is limited to usage only at close range.
    Reduced heat masking effectiveness of Spec Ops Camo.
    Fixed a bug where Ammo spec would give additional 40mm grenades instead of Frag spec.
    Increased the number of additional 40mm grenades from Frag spec.
    Fixed so AT mines only live for 20 seconds after a player dies to prevent infinite mines. (We want to make a different fix in the future, it’s in JIRA).
    Increased the Time to Live on sniper caliber rounds to allow extreme distance shots.
    Fixed several weapon descriptions, calibers, and fire rates. The weapons themselves have not changed.
    Fixed so the M9 and MP443 pistol can be equipped by the opposing faction when it is unlocked at 100 kills.
    Fixed Laser Guided Missiles missing their targets if the target is moving too fast.
    Reduced the effectiveness of Stealth on Air Vehicles.
    Reduced the effectiveness of Beam Scanning for Jets.
    Reduced the damage done to Armored Vehicles and Infantry from AA guns.
    Increased the damage RPGs and Tank shells do to AA vehicles.
    Slightly decreased the accuracy for all weapons on fully automatic, burst fire is now preferable at mid to long range.
    Increased the effective accuracy of long bursts for LMGs when using a bipod.
    Slightly increased the range of the 44magnum bullets.
    Increased the close range damage of 4.6x30mm and 5.7x28mm bullets.
    Increased the reload time of the Mortar from 3.5sec to 4.8sec and increased the time it takes before a shell hits the ground.
    Reduced the aimed accuracy bonus given by a Suppressor for the MP7, P90, PP2000, PP-19, and UMP45.
    Increased the range and FOV for designating targets with the SOFLAM and vehicle Laser Designators.
    Decreased the effectiveness of 12g FRAG ammo when equipped on semi-automatic and automatic shotguns.
    Slightly Increased the power of Fighter Jet Cannons against all vehicle targets, especially Helicopters.
    Decreased the power of Miniguns against Jets and Helicopters.
    Increased the power of Stingers against Jets.
    Flares reload times for Jets and Helicopter Gunners have been increased.
    Tweaked the AN94 so its burst fire better conveys the real world advantage offered by this weapon.
    Added Single Shot to the AN94 as an available fire mode.
    Slightly increased the recoil on the M416 and removed the Burst Fire mode (this weapon incorrectly had burst fire, which was not authentic)
    Tweaked the spawns for TDM on Kharg Island, Grand Bazaar, Caspian Border, Seine Crossing, Operation Firestorm, Damavand Peak and Noshahar Canals.
    Moved a tank spawn in US base on Caspian Border so it would not be destroyed by a falling tree.
    Tweaked the Gas station Capture area on Conquest on Caspian Border
    Tweaked the max vehicle height on Noshahar Canals.

    Heat Masking, seems that DICE though thought that the Spec Ops Camo, masked too much heat compared to say the other cammo's, so they nerfed it. I think thats what it means.

    the black camo mask the players heat signature, so if a tank is equiped with a thermal, it'll be hard to be spotted (same goes for IR scopes).

    i guess they'll let sniper bullets travel for a longer distance before dropping

    The most recent PS3 patch was on the PC like a week before it came to PS3. It takes longer for console patches because they have to go through Sony and Microsoft certifications.

    They're fixing a lot more things this time that I care about than the last time.

    I love the longer bullet drop on snipers....cause I was getting pissed off about that (especially with suppressed ones, almost pointless).

    i think the mortar reload rate should not be changed, it already takes long enough to load and it also needs to travel! whats the point when after the first hit, the enemy would have been gone by the time you get ready to fire the next round! meh C4 for the win...i like using the "Deaths how i Troll" dog tag or the "start walking" dog tag while i destroy vehicles lol

    True.

    I think they should make changes to the game depending on which mode it is.

    Meaning normal or hardcore. Because Mortar is pointless in normal mode and with this change, it's going to be even worse. At the same time, it's extremely overpowered in hardcore mode so this will fix it.

    So now they're breaking it in one mode and fixing it in another.

    One thing they need to address (extremely important) is to eliminate the dumb silly way dogfights happen in this game.

    Have you ever seen two jets trying to dogfight but they're just going in 50-yard-radius circles?

    Not only that's annoying, it looks dumb and completely ruins jets for me.

    This is how dogfighting goes with me generally. If someone is after me, and the guy knows how to control his jet...then even if I shake him, it doesn't matter because due to the air radar, he knows where I am...so he'll just readjust it.

    Problem with that is that you end up going in circles until one of you accidentally gets the other guy...by mistake of course. There's no skill involved in it.

    It's just dumb. Which is why I keep switching back to hardcore mode...much more balanced out, a lot less circling because you don't have third person view. OH YEA, forgot to mention, another tarded thing in normal mode jet fights is that since you regen damage, I could fuck the shit out of the other plane and yet he will regen after 15 seconds.

    So it all comes down to if you wanna either keep going in circles the entire round (basically if you're tired of doing that, you will lose because the other jet will get behind you, again, due to the air radar) and be pointless or go after vehicles and get shot in the back by the other person who didn't mind chasing you the entire round.

    I've been in rounds where I was chased the whole time...we can't kill each other because it takes 30 bullets to kill the other plane and if you hit someone 20 times, they will survive and regen if you don't finish them off quickly. Especially! Now that it takes even longer to disable a jet (think it's somewhere around 30% health as opposed to 50% before where it would catch fire) Bottom line: IT'S FUCKING ANNOYING AS FUCK!!!

    The worst thing in this game imo. I donno how they missed this. Every time I try coming back to normal mode, something ridiculous keeps me away.

    You know, I was confused about that too but I THINK it will actually make the reload times longer.

    Because they're saying the reload times will be increased...I'd think that means longer reload times...meaning, easier to shoot them down. Which would be perfect.
